I see I'm able to keep my files but this does not include the apps I installed.

Is there a way to reset the pc without Windows removing my apps??

Is there a way to reset the pc without Windows removing my apps??

The answer is ... it depends.

In a reset, by definition, your C drive is erased and Windows is reinstalled. The only apps that Windows can reinstall are those you obtained from Microsoft Store. For apps that you did not obtain from Microsoft Store, Windows will show you a list of these apps as a reminder of what you'll need to install on your own.

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

There is no option in Windows Reset to keep your installed apps, only your files.

Are you resetting Windows to fix problems you are experiencing with Windows?

If you are, there is a new option in Windows 11 that does not affect your files, settings or installed apps, open the Settings App, then go to System - Recovery and in the 'Fix Problems using Windows Updates', click Re-install Now.

That is a good practice to keep Windows optimised, but there is no way to keep your apps currently in the reset operation.

With this in mind, I keep a copy of the installer for every app that I obtained outside Microsoft Store. In addition, for each such app I create a text file (via Notepad) that includes the name of the installer and any information I might need to register the app if I had to reinstall it, and any instructions for installation. Each app gets its own folder that includes its installer and accompanying text file. I actually do the same for every driver and firmware update that I install. All these folders are stored in a USB flash drive.

I've never had to reset Windows. Nevertheless, I have the confidence of knowing that if I did have to reset, everything I need is in that USB flash drive.
