I just ran into this problem and your solution ALMOST fixed my problem, but I just added a few tweaks which got me across the finish line.

Of course, login to the computer first with your password (if you have one). You'll have to do this blindly, but it shouldn't be a problem after turning on your PC just press whatever key you usually press to access the password box and then type in your password before hitting Enter. Give it a few seconds for your desktop to fully load.

Press Windows + R keys simultaneously to open Run Dialog

    Type msconfig

Hit Enter key and give it a couple of seconds for dialog to appear

Then hit Tab Key, then Up Arrow, then Up arrow then Up Arrow

Then Tab 3 times [HERE'S WHERE I CHANGED UP THE INSTRUCTIONS]

press the Right arrow, hit Enter, hit Enter again, press the Right arrow, hit Enter again.

This should automatically Reboot - your laptop should now boot into normal mode

[I practiced this on my wife's laptop who also has Windows 10. Besides those small tweaks THANK YOU SO MUCH I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO HAVE TO BUY A NEW LAPTOP!!!!]

    Hi ,

Well in this case you can try to boot and press the Windows + P keys twice to see if it goes to the duplicate option if it fails.

Try accessing msconfig and following blindly as I said, the gpu driver goes to basic mode and is stuck on the main screen.

Turn off Laptop, probably by using the power button if you cannot see the screen.

Start Laptop again and wait for it to boot fully, give it a couple of minutes and wait for hard drive light to settle down.

Press Windows + R keys simultaneously to open Run Dialog

    Type msconfig

Hit Enter key and give it a couple of seconds for dialog to appear

Then hit Tab Key, then Up Arrow, then Up arrow then Up Arrow

Then Tab 3 times, then Enter, then Enter again

Reboot - your laptop should now boot into normal mode

    Hi ,

I am Ivan, I will help you with this.

This is because Safe mode disables the video driver for basic mode.

You can try turning on the computer with the laptop screen closed, it can try to start the video via the HDMI input, but it depends on the laptop.

    Hope this helps.
