The windows security keeps crashing on windows 10. When I tried to troubleshoot I got an error message saying " We cannot detect status of your firewall". Any help on how to fix this is very much appreciated.

    Hi Pranjal,

My name is Justin. I am an Independent Advisor and I will be glad to help you today.

Is there a third-party Antivirus installed?

    Check for Third-Party Antivirus Conflicts

If you have any third-party antivirus software installed, it may conflict with Windows Defender. Make sure that only one antivirus program is running.

    Uninstall Third-Party Antivirus (if installed):

Open Settings (Win + I), go to Apps > Apps & features.

Scroll through the list of installed programs and look for any third-party antivirus software.

Uninstall the program and restart your PC to see if Windows Defender starts working correctly.

    Restart Windows Security Services

Certain services need to be running for Windows Defender to work properly.

    Open Services:

Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.

    Restart Windows Defender Services:

Find the following services and ensure they are running:

    Windows Defender Antivirus Service (WinDefend)

    Windows Defender Firewall (mpssvc)

Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection Service (Sense)

For each service, right-click and select Restart.

If any of these services are stopped, right-click and choose Start.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted.

    Best Regards,

    Justin Ryan Garvey

Please run the Farbar Scanner and share your logs to inspect the Defender-related services and check for malware.

    1. Download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool 64-bit (FRST64.exe)

    https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/farbar-recovery-scan-tool/

Note: If Microsoft Edge or Chrome mislabels the Farbar Scanner executable as PUA/malware, choose to keep it by tapping … in the bottom bar, choosing Keep, and then choosing Keep anyway in the dialog that appears. See this screenshot: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/deployedge/media/microsoft-edge-security-download-interruptions/dowload-was-blocked.png

    1. If the OS language is non-English, rename FRST64.exe to FRST64English.exe.
    2. Run the program. Don't check or uncheck any options. Click "Scan".
    3. Zip the two logs, FRST.txt and Addition.txt, upload them to your OneDrive and share the link here.

Thank you for the response ,

I just checked my system and uninstalled McAfee antivirus. However, that didn't fix the problem.

Also I checked the above three services you mentioned. However I could only find one of them working in my services(windows defender firewall). The other two services are completely missing in my system.
