Yes, I am still having the issue, but it has slowed down a lot, by using the, sysdm.cpl, "fix" I posted above, and turning off lighting effects on my Razer keyboard, it is now tolerable. I do have to be cautious, as when my keyboard resets, it gets stuck on whatever the last key I pressed was; a few days ago, I pressed delete in my inbox, and next thing I knew was, every email deleted one by one 🤦‍♂️. I don't think it is a Razer issue, as when I unplug the keyboard, other USB items will still reset. I bought a gaming laptop, for both my work and gaming, but I can't even play games, as my xbox controller will reset too. On my zoom calls, I just tell everyone my camera and headset might stop working for a few seconds, Microsoft really needs to fix this.

As a side note, it you do the, "sysdm.cpl" fix, just know it stops windows update from downloading any new drivers that my be available, so I recommend you turn it back on once a week, reboot, do both a Windows update and Store update, install any updates, then turn it back off again, then reboot.

Second side note, I am now getting , "The GameInput Service service terminated with the following error:

The compound file GameInput Service was produced with a newer version of storage." errors, ever since the latests GameInput Service update (I think it was last week). I tried uninstalling GameInput Service, then rebooted, and reinstalled it, still the same error 🤷‍♂️

Edit: BTW... For easy access to sysdm.cpl, created a text file with only that command, saved it as a .bat file (yes I am an old fart that has been working with, and developing software, since the DOS days, a .bat file will execute whatever commands are in the text file), and put a shortcut on my desktop, this way I can click on the file and the systems properties dialog box will automatically open.

    Hello, Tijn Bakker

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

Hello and thanks for your feedback, it sounds like you're having intermittent issues with the USB port on your HP OMEN gaming laptop. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and possibly fix the problem:

    1. Check the power Settings:

Sometimes, the power Settings affect the USB port. Make sure your laptop is not in power-saving mode that could disable USB devices. Go to Control Panel > Power Options and adjust the Settings to ensure that the USB device is not powered off.

    1. Update the driver:

While you mentioned that your drivers are up to date, it's worth verifying again. Sometimes, Windows Update may not be able to capture all the necessary drivers. Visit HP's official website, enter the model of your laptop, and download the latest USB and chipset drivers for your model.

    3.BIOS update:

Make sure your laptop's BIOS is up to date. BIOS updates can sometimes fix hardware-related issues, including USB issues. Visit HP's support website to check if there is a BIOS update for your laptop model.

    4.USB power management Settings:

Go to Device Manager (right click on the Start button, then select "Device Manager"), expand "Universal Serial Bus Controller", right click on each USB root hub, select "Properties", go to the "Power Management" TAB, and uncheck "Allow computer to turn off this device to save power" for each USB root hub.

    1. Check for system updates:

Make sure your Windows 11 installation is completely up to date. Sometimes, updates may include fixes for hardware compatibility issues.

    1. Hardware Troubleshooting:

Disconnect and reconnect: Sometimes simply unplugging and reinserting a USB device can solve connection problems.

    1. Check for system errors:

Use the Windows Event Viewer to check for any related error messages or warnings that may cause the USB device to stop working.

    1. Reset the USB stack:

You can reset the USB stack in Windows,

This can sometimes solve connection problems:

Open the command prompt as an administrator.

Type net stop "Plug and play" and press Enter.

Type net start "Plug and Play" and press Enter.

    Restart your computer.

You can try it out by referring to the steps above, and after that, give some feedback and I will further support you.

    Best regards

I am having the same issues on my ASUS TUF F15 laptop, it started a few weeks ago, all USB would stop working, then work again after a few seconds, this is very annoying, especially since I have to do Zoom calls, and the camera and my headset resets. This would happen maybe once or twice a day, but now it is every few minutes. It seems to have started not too long after a microsoft USB driver update of June 2024 (I checked all the USB HUB drivers), it will not allow me to roll back the driver; that option has been grayed out.

Checking the event log, I am getting thousands of error a day, all are the same, "Metadata staging failed, result=0x80070490 for container <inset GUID here>" event ID 131

If I have device manager open, when the issue happens, device manager will refresh and all the USB hubs and devices disappear, then reappear when they reset.

I have done everything you have recommended and it has not corrected the issue.

I have bought a new USB hub, that did not correct the issue.

I have plugged the hub into a different USB port, that did not correct the issue.

I have plugged the individual components directly into the USB port, that did not correct the issue.

I have run all the windows diagnostics, including the CMD prompt ones, "sfc/scannow" for example, no issues found.

I have run My Asus, diagnostics and checked for updates, nothing found.

I have run windows update from both System, and the windows store, no updates available.

From searching the internet, this issue seems to have been happening to users sporadically since back in Windows 10, the only solution I have found is:

    1. Open your Advanced System Settings by going to Settings | System | About and select the Advanced System Settings link (under Related Settings). You can also open a Run dialog box and enter sysdm.cpl or simply search for "Advanced System Settings" from the search box on your taskbar.
    2. Choose the Hardware tab and click the Device Installation Settings button.
    3. For the question "Do you want to automatically download manufacturers' apps and custom icons available for your devices?" select "No (your device might not work as expected)" and then click Save Changes.

This seems to have sort of "fixed" the issue (no more "Metadata staging failed" in the event log), but my USB keyboard ( I am typing this on the laptop keyboard), it just stops working for 20 seconds, my Logitech camera keeps flashing, but at least it works better, and my headset turns off then back on again.
