USB Speakers Drop Sound When Opening Outlook

Ordered some Pebble V3 USB speakers for my computer. They have been seemingly randomly dropping sound while listening to music or teams calls. The power light stays lit, the music keeps playing, if I quickly cycle the power on the speakers the sound returns.

Today I noticed that the sound drops when opening Outlook. I repeated this several times to confirm. Just to be clear, it doesn't only happen when opening Outlook, its just one instance I have been able to confirm.

I found other examples of this happening with the Pebble speakers online with no solutions. I'm beginning to think its the computer and not the speakers due to the Outlook thing.

Drivers are the latest.

Windows 11, Dell Precision 5680

Any ideas on this bizarre behavior?

I think I just solved the same issue on my Laptop and with my Pebble V3.

Microsofts Spatial Sound was turned on. Turning it off, seemingly fixed it.

System > Sound > Properties --> Spatial Sound: Off

    Hi Martin,

I was and want to use USB connection for power and audio.

I do not have any issues with the built in Dell laptop speakers.

Currently I am using AUX for audio and USB for power, which works fine. Not my first choice though because my docking station does not have a AUX connection.

Because the sound drops when opening software in Windows, such as Outlook, I believe this is a Windows issue rather than a speaker issue.

    Hi, slowtype

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

As I understand it, you connect the stereo to a 3.5mm port on your computer via an Aux audio cable and also power it via a USB port on your computer right?

If this is the case, I think you can try the following ideas for troubleshooting:

    1. You guessed that this could be the reason for the system rather than the speakers, the most direct way is to use the built-in speakers of your Dell workstation to test in the music, Outlook environment to see if the sound is abnormal, if the built-in speakers are normal, it means that the computer is playing the audio function is normal.
    2. Other troubleshooting ideas are similar, if it is convenient, you can use other computers to connect to the stereo, to see if there is a problem with the sound, or use other stereo to do the test, to see if the sound is abnormal.
    3. If you are making a wired connection as I understand it, with both the audio cable and the power supply plugged into the same computer, there is a possibility of interference, in which case you can use a separate power adapter to power the stereo to see if the problem can be ameliorated.
    4. Change the connection method. I understand that the stereo you mentioned supports Bluetooth connection, you can also try Bluetooth connection to see if the audio experience is improved, according to my experience with audio wired connection sound experience is often worse than Bluetooth connection.

If you try all of these things and still have problems, you may need to contact Creative support for more specific help.

If I've misinterpreted your situation since the beginning and you've been using Bluetooth for the connection, or have discovered something new about troubleshooting the problem, you're welcome to let me know anytime in a reply.

    Best Regards
