iPhone rapidly connects and disconnects from PC

I have iphone 15 pro max. Last month my iphone would connect via USB to my PC with no issues.

Now, when connecting it connects, the iphone asks me to 'trust the PC it is connected to'. I press Yes, enter the phone pin to unlock it connects, and after a few seconds it disconnects then reconnects again.

If i dont select on the iphone to 'trust the pc' quick enough it disconnects and reconnects and repeats the same question again. If I try the options quickly it just disconnects and reconnects in an endless cycle.

I tried using different USB C cable in case the cable was damaged but this does the same.

I also tried using a different USB port but this does not change anything.

I imagine a USB update has happened on Windows 11 in an update somewhere or something installed is messing everything up?

I have tried uninstalling the Apple iPhone in Device Manager, restarting Windows 11 and rebooting the iPhone as well but to no avail.

The iPhone works on macOS iMac but its not easy on that OS to download the spatial videos I want to take from the phone for uploading to youtube after.

Thanks for any working solutions!

Hi Rota ‘Microsoft Community Support Specialist’ - I would remove the title of community support specialist from your signature because you said I should force turn off my PC several times, on and off by holding the power button. This could irreversibly damage the computer’s hard drive and electronics. Fortunately for me, I am not stupid.

To enter advanced boot settings you could have suggested I select RESTART Windows whilst holding the shift button and wait patiently while it restarts. This would allow the menu you suggested to appear.

I managed to fix the iPhone USB connection issue by selecting an old Windows recovery save state and reverting to that. The uninstalling several apps that were installed after the save state and reinstalling them so they would work normally within the registry.

So far I’ve not had any problems.

    Hello,sluisga

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community.

I understand that you may experience a problem of rapid disconnection and reconnection when using your iPhone for data transfer.

I see that you speculate that it may be caused by a system update. If your problem occurs after the update, we also recommend that you try uninstalling the system update to see if you can now transfer data normally.

    1. Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to turn off your device.
    2. Press the Power button again to switch on your device.
    3. As soon as you see Windows start up (e.g., some devices display the manufacturer's logo on reboot), press and hold the Power button for 10 seconds to turn off your device.
    4. Press the Power button again to turn on your device.
    5. When Windows reboots, press and hold the Power button for 10 seconds to turn off your device.
    6. Press the Power button again to turn the device on.
    7. This time, allow the device to fully boot up.
    8. Select Advanced Options.
    9. Select Uninstall Updates.

Or you can use the system restore point to roll back to the time before the system update in the following way.

Type control panel in the search bar at the bottom, then select "Recovery > Open System Restore > Next, select the restore point before the system update, and then select "Next" > "Finish".

If the problem can be solved after you restore to the previous system version, thank you for your patience and cooperation. You can inform us of this situation and we will record the problem and feedback through internal channels. At the same time, Microsoft attaches great importance to the opinions of every user, and anyone's feedback is very important. You can submit your problem through Feedback Hub, and the Microsoft development team will regularly review these ideas and fix them. Please share the feedback link here after submitting as it will allow others on the forum to vote for your submission, including me. More votes will lead to more visibility and higher priority to the development team.

If the problem persists after uninstalling the update, you can try to update or reset iTunes to see if there may be a temporary error. At the same time, you can consult Apple's official technical support to obtain technical support simultaneously, hoping to help you solve this problem through coordinated support. The link to Apple's official technical support is as follows:
