My silicon power external hard drive is detected in bluetooth and devices however isn't being detected on my window explorer on my PC I am trying to access the files on my windows 11 HP. I have tried accessing the files on my iMac and seems to work there but isn't showing up on my windows device. I have looked at my disk management and seems to be safe and in good working condition based on the information given. I need to access the files and be able to open them and access them on the external hard drive through my PC.

    Dear Ivaylo_0100,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community

I understand how crucial it is to access your files on the Silicon Power external hard drive through your HP computer running Windows 11. Let's work through a systematic approach to resolve the issue where the drive is detected in Device Manager but not showing up in Windows Explorer.

    1. Check Drive Letter Assignment. One common issue could be that your external drive has not been assigned a drive letter in Windows:

    • Press Windows + X and select Disk Management from the menu.
    • Locate your Silicon Power external hard drive in the Disk Management window.
    • Right-click on the drive and select Change Drive Letter and Paths.
    • Click Add (if no drive letter is assigned) or Change (if you want to change the current drive letter).
    • Select an available drive letter from the list and click OK.

    2. Check File System Format. The drive might be formatted with a file system that Windows cannot read natively. In Disk Management, check if the file system of your external drive is listed as NTFS, exFAT, or FAT32, which are compatible with Windows. If the file system is HFS+ (commonly used by macOS), Windows will not read it natively.

    1. Update or Reinstall USB Drivers. Updating or reinstalling the USB drivers can solve detection issues:
    • Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
    • Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
    • Right-click on each USB Root Hub entry and select Update driver.
    • Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
    • If updating doesn't work, right-click and select Uninstall device for each USB Root Hub.
    • Restart your computer, and Windows will automatically reinstall the drivers.

    4. Check and Format the Drive (as a last resort). If none of the above steps work and if you can ensure that the data is backed up:

    • Ensure that all critical data from your external drive is backed up on another device.
    • In Disk Management, right-click the external drive and select Format.
    • Choose exFAT as the file system and complete the formatting process.

I hope these steps help you access your files on the Silicon Power external hard drive through your Windows 11 computer. If the issue persists or if you encounter any additional problems, please feel free to update me with further details.

    Best Regards,
