Incompatible Drivers: ftdibus.sys

Dear community,

I do want to reactivate core isolation, but have an incompatible driver:

ftdibus.sys / version 2.12.6.3

My issue is that I cannot identify published name and as such cannot deinstall the driver. I already followed the steps as per following post:

Incompatible Drivers: ftdibus.sys - Microsoft Community

ftdibus.sys is however not listed when I run prompt dism /online /get-drivers /format:table.

Are there any alternative steps to identify and deinstall the driver?

Best regards,

Patrick

    Hi there,

I a not an MVP or anything else, just a regular user truing to find a solution so YMMV, but this worked for me. I was in the same situation and could not see the old FTDIbus driver in device manager and thus could not install it (new computer, came preinstalled somehow I guess?)

Based on a now closed topic elsewhere here I realized that FTDI supplies an uninstall tool for their drivers. In the other topic the original poster had contacted FTDI and when another user asked him about the step he just said to contact them. Which seems excessive if everybody should contact their customer support. However after a bit of searching I came across FTDI's own guide to this. Refer to screenshot from this guide below or check the full guide: FTDI Drivers Installation Guide for Windows 10/11 (ftdichip.com). Specifically section 4 deals with uninstalling old drivers. I recommend leaving product ID blank to make sure you remove the old drivers, like they specify (it was filled out with a value when i ran the program).

Uninstall tool is available here: Utilities - FTDI (ftdichip.com) It cotins both CLI and GUI versinos, GUI is fine and easy for our use.

After uninstall I ran the core isolation scan again and enabled it. I then installed the new drivers before restarting the computer. Newest device drivers to install after complete removal of old drivers are available here: Drivers - FTDI (ftdichip.com)

After rebooting the core isolation was enabled without further issues.

I hope this helps anyone with this problem. This is not my first computer to have this problem either, but in the past I was usually able to find the driver in device manager and uninstall it.

    Best regards

    Morten

    Hi Patrick,

I'm Sumit, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.

    Yes, the alternatives are there.

    https://www.yourwindowsguide.com/2022/09/fix-me...

Download and Run Autoruns from here: https://live.sysinternals.com/autoruns.exe

Click File>Run as Administrator. Let the app restart.

    Open the Driver tab.

Locate the problematic driver, and select the uncheck option for the driver.

Exit the app and Restart your PC.

If disabling the driver has not helped, and you still get the same message, right-click the driver and choose delete.

Please note that doing either of these would make the device stop working. You may have to reinstall the driver again.

Hope that helps, and rely on us for any further inquiries. All the best.
