average asus laptop experience
hi,
i’m referring back to the forums because my asus zenbook broke again… it hasn’t even been a week and i only used it for school and it managed to give up once again. this morning i used it at school and it was fine, speedy, battery doing great and at one point it died (i came to school with like 35% so i guess it makes sense) so i thought: ill charge it when i get home. plugged it in, booted it up and it was taking a long time to perform basic operations such as logging in. explorer would crash instantly and everything i tried to execute would take like 3 minutes to even open. even in the recovery environment it would have noticeable lag. btw, it said it was 100% when i booted it up (which was strange, it had been in the charger for what, 10 minutes now?) and if i unplugged it it would die.
if anyone knows anything that could help please tell me because i’ve posted about this laptop a week ago. its battery was not working after putting a new one in. worked fine the past week and now its dead again.
thank you guys either way and hopefully it will work

2024-09-12T18:28:40+00:00 Thank you for the confirmation. Since you've ruled out the battery as the issue and confirmed the settings limit charging to 80%, the problem seems to lie elsewhere, possibly with the power management system or the motherboard. The fact that the BIOS shows 100% after just 10 minutes of charging, despite the charge limiter, suggests that the battery controller or firmware may be misreporting the charge level.
Sometimes, Windows power settings can get corrupted. Try resetting your power plan to default by going to:
Control Panel → Power Options → Choose or customize a power plan → Restore default settings for this plan.
Also, since your laptop is lagging significantly, it's possible that an internal component or a driver issue is causing the system-wide slowdown. Use Event Viewer to check for any critical errors or warnings related to system performance.
Also, An outdated or corrupted BIOS can cause hardware miscommunication, like inaccurate battery readings or random power behavior. You should check for a BIOS update through the MyASUS app or ASUS's official site.
Please let me know if you have any more questions, I'll do my best to respond as soon as possible.

2024-09-12T18:07:24+00:00 oh i forgot to mention this but i chose a setting in which it stops my laptop from charging over 80% so its impossible for it to reach 100% in 10 minutes of charging

2024-09-12T18:04:06+00:00 heyy the battery should be completely fine as it was doing great this morning. myasus doesn’t start up easily because of the extreme lag but i managed to execute it and it said nothing was wrong with the battery and just the whole computer in general. i have posted about this laptop around a week ago about it having battery issues and as i said it has worked fine up until when i posted this. when i had that weird battery issue my laptop would insist that it had 0% and the bios would tell me the same thing, now if i go into my bios it says 100% so it definitely must be something else.
thank you for your reply!

2024-09-12T17:27:57+00:00 Hello there! I am Charity, I'm an Independent Advisor. I'm glad to help you today!
Thank you for the information, and I'm sorry that this is happening to you. It sounds like the battery in your ASUS Zenbook might be malfunctioning again, especially since it dies when unplugged despite showing 100% charge. This issue could be related to either a faulty battery or a problem with the connection between the battery and motherboard.
Use the MyASUS app to check your battery's health. If the battery diagnostic indicates poor health, the battery may need to be replaced again.
If the issue is intermittent, there might be a loose connection or short circuit causing the battery to disconnect unexpectedly.
Please let me know if you have any more questions, I'll do my best to respond as soon as possible.
Kind Regards,
Charity (GMT+08:00)
