How can I get my computer to STAY asleep?

I am at my wit's end here. I have a fan that's on its last leg and I try to give it a break when I can. But EVERY SINGLE MORNING at 2 AM I am woken up by my grindy fan. And then I put my computer back to sleep and tuck myself back into bed and as soon as I am about to fall asleep, "Grrrrrrr" it starts up again.

I've now disabled wake timers, disabled hybrid sleep, and set it to enter hibernation after one minute.

NOW it wakes up as soon as it goes to sleep. It won't even stay asleep for longer than 2 seconds.

I don't understand why so many settings in Windows have to be nonconsensual. Can't your updates just allow us to have some damn control over our own systems?

    Are you serious? You expect me to go through all that just to get my computer to sleep?!?! Again, I ask, Are you serious?

    How about when I click on the setting that says "put my computer to sleep after 5 mins" it actually freakin' works?!?! How about that? What a novel idea.

    Frustrated user!

    This!

    "6. View the device that last woke up the computer, still entered in "Windows PowerShell (Administrator) (A)"
    powercfg -lastwake"

    Then head on to device manager > right-click the listed device > Properties > Power Management > Uncheck "Allow this device to wake the computer"

    Hello, I am a Microsoft user like you, trying to assist you in solving this problem together!

    I fully understand your distress when encountering this problem. There are many reasons that prevent you from falling asleep, and this needs to be investigated step by step. I will add some additional methods for investigation:

    1. Perform clean startup to eliminate third-party software interference

    Uninstall all third-party antivirus and system optimization software from the device first

    ① Press the WIN+R combination key to open the Run dialog box;

    ② Enter msconfig during runtime;

    ③ Find "Services", click "Hide All Microsoft Services" in the bottom left corner, and then click "Disable All";

    ④ Click on the "Enable" tab, then click to open the "Task Manager";

    ⑤ , disable all options during startup;

    ⑥ Then click "Restart"

    Attention: Restore password login mode before execution (Windows hello may affect)

    If it returns to normal, please refer to the above link for guidance to investigate the specific affected applications

    1. turn off AwayModeEnable

    Open and run Win+R, enter "regedit" to open the registry editor, and find this path:

    Computer \ HKEY-LOCAL_Machine \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ Session Manager \ Power

    "AwayModeEnable" leaves the mode, we change the key value to 0 and turn off this mode

    Note: Some laptops may not be able to find this registry key value. You can create a new one

    Right click on the Windows Start menu on the desktop, select Power Options ->Other Power Settings ->Change Schedule Settings ->Change Advanced Power Settings. In the "Sleep" window that pops up, check if there is an option for "Allow Leave Mode Policy". If available, expand the "Allow Leaving Mode Policy" option and set both battery usage and power on to "No".

    1. Please open cmd as an administrator and enter the command

    powercfg -requests

    Check what program is causing the inability to sleep, and confirm after closing it

    1. Does the computer have a scheduled task

    powercfg -waketimers

    1. List the devices currently configured to wake up the system from any sleep state and see if the cause can be identified.

    powercfg /devicequery wake_armed

    1. View the device that last woke up the computer, still entered in "Windows PowerShell (Administrator) (A)"

    powercfg -lastwake

    If troubleshooting is not possible, please post screenshots of steps 3-5

    I hope the above suggestions can help you! If the issue cannot be resolved, please click "Reply" to provide feedback on relevant information and pictures

    this does not help because if you are using a corporate laptop, you do not have access to such level of settings.

    A recent MS update changed my settings to allow my mouse to wake my sleeping computer and removed the selection from Settings.  The setting may be found under Control Panel/Mouse/Hardware/Properties/Change Settings/Power Management. Uncheck "Allow this device to wake the computer". I press any key on the keyboard to wake my computer. I hope this helps.
