I don’t have a product key or a usb just trying to do a simple media creation tool windows update from the Microsoft website. I’ve already found old posts with similar situations but mine of course is not the same. I’ve attempted to update keeping my files which didn’t work. Pictured is my second attempt not keeping any files at all and this is what it came up with. Stop code: DRIVER PNP WATCHDOG Was also listed when it went blue screen and said ran into a problem and cancelled the update on its own. My laptop is old but I don’t think it’s too old to update I could be wrong. Someone help me please ?

But is there any sort of way at all to get it to windows 10? I know now Microsoft doesn’t sell 10 anymore but is there any other possible route to get it up to 10?

So my only option is to purchase windows 11 and even then hope that my computer is compatible?

You are stuck with 8.1 on that.

    This explains it:

8/8.1 > 11 would be a clean install and doesn't come for free.

But computer 18 months or older than the release of 11 are not suitable to run 11.

    Windows 11 requirements; https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/whats-new/windows-11-requirements

    Specifically check this:

Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with two or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or system on a chip (SoC).

Windows 11 Supported AMD Processors Supported Intel Processors Supported Qualcomm Processors

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Microsoft details what happens or won't happen if you install 11 on a device that does not meet minimum system requirements.

    Remember: NO Security Updates.

Your device might malfunction due to these compatibility or other issues. Devices that do not meet these system requirements will no longer be guaranteed to receive updates, including but not limited to security updates.

This PC doesn't meet the minimum system requirements for running Windows 11 - these requirements help ensure a more reliable and higher quality experience. Installing Windows 11 on this PC is not recommended and may result in compatibility issues. If you proceed with installing Windows 11, your PC will no longer be supported and won't be entitled to receive updates. Damages to your PC due to lack of compatibility aren't covered under the manufacturer warranty.

    1. The free upgrade to 10 loophole that existed for years was finally closed last year.

So no free upgrades to 10.

    1. Microsoft also stopped selling 10 last year.
