Can I still use my old Microsoft Money Program with Windows 11? If so how do I activate it?

I have an old Microsoft Money program. I got a new PC that has Windows 11 on it and I installed the software but it wants to activate it. I have the key and I have my original order number but it says I cant access the internet to validate the program. I have all of my transactions through 2021 but it won't let me enter any new transactions until I activate it. I keep getting some stupid error message that I can't connect to the sever. I don't need any online access to Money I just need to be able to enter the last 3 years of transactions. Can I get an override key so that I can use my software without connecting to the internet?

The long discontinued Microsoft Money can't connect to Banks or anything else online.

Install Money Plus/Deluxe Sunset from https://archive.org/details/MSMoneySunset

    No activation required.

    Thanks for your reply Don.

I have in fact found a solution following the advice of another poster here that it is possible to install Money directly into Windows 11.

I ran the old installation CD on an external DVD drive. The first time I ran it the CD drive whirred for about 30 seconds and then stopped. I tried again with the same result. I persevered a third time and up popped a window asking if the installation had been successful and if not advising me to run the windows 11 compatibility checker. I did so a trouble shooter ran briefly and then a screen opened with a menu to tick the version of windows on which the programme had previously run successfully. I chose Windows XP, as I had run Money on it from just after XP was first issued to when Microsoft finally stopped supporting it. The DVD drive started to whirr again but stopped after 20 odd seconds. Then the menu appeared once again. This time I tried selecting Windows Vista ( I have been running Money in Vista guesting on a virtual machine hosted by Linux until recently) and to my surprise and delight the DVD drive started up again and the installation of the programme on my new laptop thereafter proceeded faultlessly. I had already copied my latest money file onto its D drive, so all that remained for me to do was to click on 'open file' from the drop down menu in the top left hand corner of the Money welcome page and locate and open that money file, whereupon Money opened just as it had when I last used it. And it is now running smoothly.

    Cheers ,

    William

I found my Microsoft money files on older program, Canadian Version did not run properly in the sunset version. that was way before Windows 11. One problem is I don’t have the updates.

I like MS Money easy to use and I don’t think that there’s anything like it currently. I have records going back to the early 1990’s which is really handy.

I have a new Windows 11 computer and when I try to load my Money from my Money CD I get this message:

'Before you can run Money on this computer, you must run setup

program on the Money CD or in the directory where the Money

files were copied., I've tried both methods and get the same message.

    Could use some help, ThankAl

Download Money Plus Sunset from https://archive.org/details/MSMoneySunset

See if you can install that. Reports are, in general, that Money Plus Sunset will install and run on Windows 11.
