So i got a message that my windows defender found something and put it in quarantine.

But when i wanted to see which file it was and everything i got a pop up message that asked me if i want to allow windows defence sistem (verified publisher: Microsoft Windows) to make changes to my computer.

I dont know what kind of changes it mean so i didn’t click yes. But i just want to know how i can view the file that was quarantined.

Thanks to anyone who can help

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

When you try to access Defender, if oyu are asked if you want to allow it to make changes to your PC, select Yes, that is just a user account control setting that causes apps on your PC to ask that question.

In Defender in the Defender History section, you should be able to see a list indicating what malware was found on your PC, which would include the name and location of the file.

If not, boot your PC into Safe Mode, then in File Explorer, go to this folder and you will find any file(s) that have been quarantined.

    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Quarantine

Files in the Quarantine can do not harm on your PC and Defender will automatically remove them after some tie when it is cleaning up, or you can manually delete that file from the Quarantine folder if you wish.
