My computer won’t load certain websites and update my apps

Hi, since yesterday my computer has suddenly had issues loading certain websites (such as Discord or even logging me into this forum) and updating/ loading pre-existing apps on my computer (such as the EA App and Discord). Whereas, I can load these websites perfectly fine on my mobile device (using the same internet connection).

I have tried loading the websites on both Chrome and Microsoft Edge but neither will load the page - showing the error code “ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT”.

I have also tried clearing my cache and cookies, disabling my extensions, changing my DNS settings, but nothing seems to be working.

Is there anything else I can do?

    Hi Ampo7777,

Sorry to hear that it didn't work for you! Let us try to check one more thing.

Can you also try checking if the time and time zone of your computer is set correctly? I saw a similar post where updating this fixed the problem.

Here is the reference for the steps above:

Please let us know here how it goes or if it works for you.

    Thanks!

Hello! My name is Ben a fellow member here in the community, not a Microsoft employee. Hope you are doing well!

Since the issue is happening on your computer only. It could be that one of your app or settings is preventing you from accessing these websites. Can you try disabling any of your Anti-virus software as well if you have one? Then try accessing the website again.

For Windows defender, it can be disabled by following the steps here:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/tur...

Additionally, try to also flush your Windows device DNS. To do so, just open command prompt in administrator mode by searching for Command Prompt > Right click > then choose Run as administrator.

On the command prompt window, run the following command:

    ipconfig /flushdns

If the same issue persist, run the following command next:

    ipconfig /registerdns

    ipconfig /release

    ipconfig /renew

    netsh winsock reset

I hope this works this time. Please let us know how it goes or if there are still problems and we are here to assist.

    Regards,

Hi thank you for the reply!

I’ve just tried all these and unfortunately they aren’t working still. I’ve also tried unplugging and rebooting my wifi router and that hasn’t fixed the issue either.
