I am having the exact same issue with this Graph Pad Software, it is always unresponsive at the same place that Tierney777 described. I've followed the above steps and reinstalled Windows with no improvement. Are there further troubleshooting steps?
How do I fix "Windows Installer Not Responding"?
I am trying install the program Graph Pad Prism on my new Windows computer. The file will download, but when I click "open file," I get the small window that says, "preparing to install," and then it freezes with the message on the top of the window, "not responding." This is always as far as I get when trying to install the program. I then have to restart my computer for the window to go away. I have tried this at least 15 times by now and the same thing always happens.
I'm not sure if the model of the computer matters, but it is an Acer, Intel Core, I7. There is also plenty of space left on the computer, so space is not the issue. I think there is something off with the Windows Installer.
I'm not getting any "Error" messages, just the "Not Responding" message.
One of the pictures I attached here shows something else I tried; it involves using the "Run" system on my computer. This did not work either.
I tried contacting Prism, but all they did was send me the link to the most recent version of Prism, which is what I have been trying to download the whole time.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

2024-08-23T09:27:01+00:00 Hello, Tierney777
Welcome to the Microsoft Community
Thanks for your feedback. I read the information you provided.
Based on your description of the problem, the problem may be caused by Windows Installer, so I suggest that you create a new local account and test whether the installation problem still exists in this local account. The detailed method is as follows.
Press Win + S to open the search bar.
Type cmd, then right-click "Command Prompt" and select "Run as Administrator".
Type the following command in the command prompt and press Enter:
net user username password /add
For example, to create a local account named newuser with a password of password123, you can use the following command:
net user newuser password123 /add
If the problem still exists in the new account, you can try an in-place upgrade, which is a method of reinstalling Windows. The principle of an in-place upgrade is to upgrade the system from the old version to the latest version while retaining the original system and user data, and only overwrite the system files, so as to restore the normal use of the system. The detailed steps are as follows.
Visit Microsoft's official website, Download Windows 11 (Download Windows 11 (microsoft.com))
Use the installation tool to create a USB installation disk or ISO file.
Insert the USB installation disk or mount the ISO file, and then run setup.exe.
Select the "Upgrade this PC" option, and then click "Next".
Make sure to select the "Keep personal files and apps" option, and then click "Install".
The process may take some time, please be patient.
Disclaimer: Let's try to perform an in-place upgrade, which will refresh your Windows files and operating system, and will not delete files or applications. But if there is important data on the computer, we still recommend backing it up in advance.
