What happened to the Copilot preview? I had that button on my new laptop for some time, but yesterday after I turned off my laptop to do something else and turned it back on, I noticed that the Copilot preview, which used to be on the right corner of my taskbar, is now like an app. Please let me know if there's a way for me to bring it back to the way it was. Thank you.

Hello Joshua Mendoza1 and welcome to the Microsoft Community!

Based on your feedback, you are experiencing an issue with the copilot preview disappearing from the top right corner of the taskbar

You can try the following to try to resolve this issue

Modify the taskbar settings to enable the Copilot taskbar item.

Right click on the taskbar and select “Taskbar Settings”, then you will see that the Copilot option is already enabled.

But you still can't see the taskbar, re-click it and turn it on again to see if you can see the Copilot icon in the taskbar.

If you haven't changed any settings before

You can check if the system was updated the last time you shut down your computer.

You can click on windows key>settings>windows update>history updates

Check if there are any recent updates? In particular the KB5035942 update may cause this issue

If there is an update, you can try uninstalling it.

Then see if your problem is resolved

If it doesn't and you need to use Copilot, you can temporarily use or access Copilot Web through Edge. Wait for the next update to be pushed out.

Microsoft takes the user experience very seriously, and you can also use the Feedback Center at

Send feedback to Microsoft with the Feedback Hub app - Microsoft Support

Submit your ideas and suggestions and the development team will periodically review submissions for ideas or fixes.

After submitting, please share the feedback link here as this will allow others on the forums to vote for your submission, including me.

More votes will result in more visibility and higher priority for the development team.

I hope you find the above information helpful, please let me know of any progress and I look forward to hearing from you further!

Looks like the ability to pin Copilot to task bar right corner is gone with the latest version. You can pin it to the task bar like other apps, but it was way more convenient when it was available at the right most corner. :(

    Thank you for your reply

Because I've seen feedback on this issue in many places

This may be an issue with the update

So I think you can try the uninstallation method in my last reply

Uninstall the most recent update to see if you can get copilot back.

If uninstalling the update doesn't get it back, it's possible that the system is forcing the changes.

That's why I provided feedback in my last reply.

Since this was developed by a techie and there is a lot of feedback on this issue at the moment

You can wait a while for the latest update to fix this issue

So as an alternative, as I pointed out in the previous reply

You can temporarily use or access Copilot Web via Edge.

Wait for the next update to be pushed out.

In addition to that, you can upload your current computer OS version to me at

This can be found by clicking on the windows key > Settings > System > System Info > in the windows specs section.

In addition to this, you can also upload your recent update history to me to help you take a look at it.

You can click windows key > settings > windows update > update history

Then upload the update history to me as well, and I'll help you find out why this copilot disappeared!
