July 9th, my computer was working fine. I had just been on my class discussion board and was logging off getting ready to go to work. It came up with a Windows update. And I clicked restart. I waited for the computer to come back up. I shut it down and went to work.

Came back from work the next morning went to log on and while it was showing that I was connected to my Wi-Fi. Any site that I went to try to go on was telling me I was not connected to the network.

I have tried rolling back the update. But my Wi-Fi connection is still gone. It still shows up that I'm connected. It shows that my device driver is working it says that my network card is working. But I am still not getting to the websites.

I took it up to Best buy to see if they could help me out. They tried with an ethernet connection which worked one time. I would appreciate some kind of help please. I have four weeks left of class before I get my degree and I would really like to be able to finish my class. Thank you very much. Okay so

Some of the perks of having Windows on your laptop is random updates keeps entering whether they are needed or not and then a perfectly working machine just stops and you spend countless hours and sleepless nights trying to work your way only to realise someone mindfully created something to wreck havoc with your work schedule and everything in between.

And you are left praising the genius behind all this. Such is life in modern world with updates and uselessness of consumers. 😞

Microsoft updates are a waste of time, impedes production, turns a well working machine into paperweight, now my Wi-Fi is not working - can't get any work done. The best part you can not 'COMPLETELY' turn off these updates - you must take it - whether you like it or not :) no work done for the day, have to pay some computer shop now to fix my wi - fi - great job Microsoft - good on ya !

The September 2024 updates from last week did the same thing to my PC, but none of your suggested fixes worked. I also tried uninstalling the updates and that failed too. I work from home and need to be able to connect to the internet. Please fix this. Please

    Hello thoffnpr007,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community and I'll be glad to assist you today.

I understand that you are having trouble connecting to a Wi-Fi network after the latest updates for Windows 11. You could try these few troubleshooting steps and see if it fixes the issue.

    1. Run the Network troubleshooter:

    a. Search for Network troubleshooter in the search bar on the taskbar, select 'Find and fix problems with Network', and select it.

    b. Run the network troubleshooter to find and fix the problem automatically.

    c. Once completed, restart your PC and try connecting to your network. If the issue persists,

    1. Flush DNS Cache.

    a. Open Command Prompt (Administrator) Window.

    b. Type or paste the commands below one by one and press Enter after each command:

    ipconfig /flushdns

    netsh winsock reset

You should see – Windows IP Configuration. Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.

    c. Close the Command prompt window and restart your PC.

    1. Uninstall and re-install Wi-Fi Drivers.

    a. Open Device Manager.

    b. Select the arrow next to Network adapters.

    c. Right-click your generic Wireless network driver, select Uninstall device, select the Attempt to remove the driver for this device check box, and then select Uninstall.

    d. Once uninstalled, restart your PC.

(Windows will automatically install the drivers for your PC)

    e. Try connecting your PC to your wi-fi network and see if it helps.

    1. If the issue persists, perform a Network Reset.

    a. Go to Settings and select Network & Internet.

    b. Select Advanced network settings.

    c. Click Network Reset > Reset now to reinstall your network adapters and set other network components to original settings.

I hope this information helps. If you have any questions, please let me know and I will be happy to help you further.

    Best regards,

    Gunasekar N
