i have several windows 11 PC's so this is not a cable issue . On one PC i can plug phone and it works .

on another windows 11 laptop with same cable windows 11 does not even show the phone !

for some DELIBERATE reason this software on one PC is ignoring the phone . It makes connection noise but the drives never show .

Once again trying to do something in a hurry and this software gets in the way . When copying files it wont because it says i dont have permission on my own PC .

When I plug in the phone you can hear it see it but for some absolutely stupid reason it doesnt show the phone

    Hi RAC4433,

I have looked into the issue, and based on my understanding, It sounds like you're facing an inconsistent connection issue with your phone across different Windows 11 PCs. Since the same cable works on one PC but not on another, the issue may stem from the device configuration or permissions on the problematic PC. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Check USB Settings and Permissions on the Problematic PC

    • Check USB Mode on the Phone: When you connect the phone to the laptop, make sure it's set to the correct USB mode (e.g., "File Transfer" or "MTP"). Sometimes it defaults to "Charging Only" mode, which can prevent the phone from showing up as a drive.

    • Try Different USB Ports: Even if the connection sound is there, trying a different USB port might help establish a more stable connection.

    1. Update or Reinstall the Phone's Drivers

    • Update Driver:

    1. Right-click on Start and select Device Manager.
    2. Expand Portable Devices or Universal Serial Bus controllers.
    3. Right-click your phone and choose Update Driver.

    • Reinstall Driver:

    1. In Device Manager, right-click on your phone and select Uninstall Device.
    2. Unplug the phone and restart the PC.
    3. Plug the phone back in to let Windows reinstall the drivers.
    4. Reset File and Folder Permissions

If you’re having permission issues, you can try resetting the file and folder permissions on the problematic PC:

    1. Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
    2. Type the following command and press Enter:

    icacls * /T /Q /C /RESET

This will reset permissions for files and folders in the current directory.

    1. Disable USB Selective Suspend
    2. Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings.
    3. Click Change advanced power settings.
    4. Expand USB settings > USB selective suspend setting.
    5. Set it to Disabled for both On battery and Plugged in.
    6. Check Phone Storage Settings

Sometimes, the phone requires an additional setting change to be recognized properly:

    • On your phone, go to Settings > Storage > USB computer connection and make sure it’s set to Media Device (MTP).

    1. Run a Permissions Fix (For Copying Files)

If the issue persists with permissions, try taking ownership of the problematic files or directories:

    1. Right-click the folder or drive where you’re having permission issues.
    2. Select Properties > Security > Advanced.
    3. Click Change next to the owner field.
    4. Enter your username, check Replace owner on subcontainers and objects, and click OK.
    5. Test in Safe Mode or Clean Boot

To rule out software interference, try booting into Safe Mode or performing a Clean Boot and see if the phone is recognized properly in those conditions.

I hope one of these steps resolves the issue. Let me know if you need further assistance!

    Best regards,

    Arvind
