No location tab on my documents.

Windows 11 my documents has no location tab. I do not use one drive and have removed it and uninstalled it and deleted all one drive folders and my documents is still somehow not showing location in properties. When I click on run and enter shell:personal it says the folder doesn’t exist likely cause I removed it after installing.

I should note I hate one drive and it should Not be on these computers by default. If a person wants it they can download it themselves.

I’m some other posts with the same Issue I couldn’t ever find an actual resolution.

I do not want to reinstall one drive as it will just mess Everything else up.

Help.

If there is already a Documents folder in your user folder, skip step 1 and perform steps 2 - 5

    1

    Open File Explorer.

Navigate into your user folder inside C:\Users

In there, right click and create a new folder, then name it Documents.

Move all files from the Documents folder inside the OneDrive folder into that new Documents folder you created.

    Close File Explorer.

    2

Open the Registry Editor again, it will still be on the same page.

    3

Double click {F42EE2D3-909F-4907-8871-4C22FC0BF756}, set its Value Data to this and click OK

    %USERPROFILE%\Documents

    4

Double click Personal, set its Value Data to this and click OK

    %USERPROFILE%\Documents

    5

Close the Registry Editor, then restart (not shut down) your PC.

Windows will then use that new Documents folder you created and it will have a Location tab back.

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Click your Start Button, type regedit and hit Enter to open the Registry Editor.

Click View and make sure 'Address Bar' is turned on.

Paste this into the Address Bar at the top and hit Enter.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

Please provide a screenshot of that Registry Editor page.

Someone else had this same Issue and was able to fix it.

I am most definitely not going to pay someone to fix something that Microsoft messed up by forcing one drive upon people. I am also extremely tech savvy when it comes to computers so I’m not paying someone to do something I can.

This is a new documents folder already I had to do that when I deleted all the the one drive folders.

Somehow this one is forced to one drive and somehow my powershell is also forced to one drive.

What I need to know is how to update powershell to not look for a folder that doesn’t exist.

Creating a new folder and it doesn’t matter what I name it doesn’t give me any location tab on the properties.

My other system folders pictures videos and music etc all have no issues.

But any new folder and the old documents folder do not. Also the old documents folder is named documents when I create a new folder and simply name it my documents it says it already exists.

There has to be a way to easily fix this. I have only had this computer a couple weeks and I am not taking it back nor am I resetting it. I have over 300 gigs of pictures I’m not resetting it and having to transfer everything again only to run into the same issues with one drive. It was a pain getting it off of the computer in the first place.
