Microsoft app and xbox store will not let me download anything

So I have an issue where neither my xbox app and my microsoft store do not let me download anything at all. I have tried to go through a lot of the solutions posted online but nothing has seemed to work so I thought I would start from square one and just make my own post.

I believe that the xbox app and microsoft store for some reason don't think that I am connected to the internet? Even though everything is working fine and I have been on multiple connections, have tried using different ethernet cords and different household connections as well as trying to switch to wifi to no avail.

In the xbox app: I cannot download anything that is directly through xbox. It just says "content failed to load". However, when the install is through an external app like the EA Play games such as jedi: fallen order, I am able to download and play those games.

Furthermore, on the microsoft store I am not able to download any apps. I have tested this on multiple apps and nothing seems to work. The button either goes grey for a second and then just shows "install" again like I never attempted to click it. Or it just turns into a spinning circle like it is thinking and doesn't progress any further.

Unfortunately none of these solutions worked for me.

I believe that it is mainly a problem with the gaming services not properly working on my PC. And I'm not sure how to fix it as the gaming services repair tool in the Xbox app, as well as the one that you can download from the website is not working at all (as you can see in the image on the link).

Now I am stumped. Are there any more solutions that you can think of?

EDIT: After about 14 hours of tinkering I've rooted out the culprit and have a real, viable fix for this issue. Definitively. I can certainly help anyone still in need of a solution. I'm not posting it for these leeeches until another user says something

Hey man, hope you see this before you also go stressing both you and your PC for absolutely ZERO reason... After wasting an unbelievable amount of time trying to nail down what the f was going on with my xbox and MS store app, I finally got on the phone with a Microsoft representative. He let slip that they know DAMN WELL what is happening, that it is an error on their side of the program, that its happening to many xbox and PC users alike, and that theyve known of this programming snafu for nearly a week...

So, before you get sent on the same ridiculous ride that i've just exited, waking hours putting my PC through the absolute wringer employing every solution I could conjure you can save yourself the headache. This person was about to do the same to you, even though... I repeat, THEY ALREADY KNOW IT'S INTERNAL Covering (lying) to save face and plow through the final hours of the CoD Open Beta Window without weathering the user feedback s***storm in which they rightly deserve to be caught.

Perform a clean boot huh? I'll perform a clean boot in his.... work inbox. Schisters, all of ya!

In summary, sit tight pal. You wont read it anywhere, not yet anyway. But they're working on it. Over there trying to manually root out their errors, sifting through a million lines of code. HA. These idiots couldn't read The Davinci Code if they had a Kindle and two weeks vacation.

    Hello, Zac CCarr

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

Hello, thank you for your feedback on your issue here, it seems that you are experiencing Microsoft Apps and Xbox Store not being able to download software.

First of all thank you for your feedback, from what you have described it seems that other ways to download the software are working fine, you mentioned that you have referred to some other threads in the community for the fix so please understand if I have duplicated the steps for you.

You can refer to some of the steps below and then provide feedback or share some results here and I will continue to provide you with further methods:

    1. Reset Microsoft Store cache:

Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog box.

Type wsreset.exe and press Enter. This will reset the Microsoft Store cache.

    1. Run the Windows Store App Troubleshooter:

Go to Settings > Update and Security > Troubleshooting.

Select the Windows Store application and run the troubleshooter.

Check the date and time settings:

Make sure your date and time settings are correct. Go to Settings > Time and Language > Date and Time and make sure the settings are accurate.

    1. Log out and sign in again:

Log out of your Microsoft account in the Microsoft Store and Xbox app.

Restart your computer and sign in again.

    1. Run PowerShell commands:

Open PowerShell as an administrator (press Windows + X and select Windows PowerShell (Administrator)).

    Run the following command:

    Get-AppXPackage *WindowsStore* -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest. xml"}

    1. Check the Internet connection:

Although you mentioned trying different connections, make sure that no VPNs or proxies are interfering with the connection.

    1. Create a new user account:

It is also possible that the account profile is abnormal and creating a new user account can be done to troubleshoot the issue. Go to Settings > Accounts > Family and other users > Add others to this computer.

You can also refer to the steps mentioned in the link below:

How to perform a clean boot in Windows - Microsoft Support

You can try it out by referring to the steps above, and after that, give some feedback and I will further support you.

    Best regards
