Outlook can't connect to Internet -- and all other applications can

Outlook is reporting that (and behaving as if) it can't connect to the Internet. Every other application I use, including Chrome and Edge, are connecting to the Internet. I have not changed Outlook settings since I installed it (years ago).

Microsoft needs to address this ASAP. I can't be the only person who's affected.

After six hours of stumbling around and trying to get this fixed. I found this site and #2 worked perfectly and it took about 10 minutes to do it.

But why did this happen in the first place?? I made no changes at all to my PC. Just woke up one morning and the settings had changed. Since when is this sort of software considered shippable? I guess I'm old.

A variation of solution 1 and 2 have always helped to get my users up and running. These are only "band-aid fixes", does anyone know what the root cause is? I've tried 3, 4 and 5 but haven't had any good results. Anything helps, at this point I've tried everything to find the root issue.

    Hi, Michael ,

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue.

Here is some troubleshooting that you can try and should fix this problem.

Solution 1: Check if the "Work offline" is not enabled

    1-Open the Outlook

2-Click on the Send / Receive tab

3-Check if the "Work Offline" mode is turned off

-If the background of the Work Offline button is dark-grey, that means the Work Offline mode is active. You’ll need to turn off the mode by clicking the button once.

Solution 2: Reset the network settings

1-Click on Start then click on Settings

    2-Click on Network & Internet

3-Scroll down, click on "Network reset" and then click on "Reset now"

4-When finished, reboot your PC and check if the problem was fixed

Solution 3: Disable any VPN or third-party antivirus. If you have any VPN or third-party antivirus, disable them temporarily and check if the problem is fixed.

Solution 4: Repair the Office installation. You can see how to do it at this link.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/repa...

Solution 5: Reinstall Office. You can see how to do it in the section "Running Repair didn't help. Now what?" of the link.

I hope this information helps. If you have any questions, please let me know and I'll be glad to assist you further.

I don't have a send/receive tab (I have compose & reply, but there's nothing about "work offline" under that) nor a network & internet sub-heading under settings. I'm on a Mac and so not sure if these are showing up differently, but I'm trying some of the key words in a search. I'd like to try 1 and 2 before I go further field!
