Something's not right with my USB to headphone adapter...

My computer has a broken headphone jack, so I have to use an adapter for usb to resolve that problem - However, there is one flaw. Media players keep pausing and unpausing every 0.3 seconds or less.

Sometimes it does it, sometimes it doesn't.

Also, it is trying to open my media player randomly - and opened it in the background as if it wasn't a window.

It doesn't do it when the media player is not on top of any other windows.

This link will show you a video of what is happening.

It only happens on one adapter I have - but the other one I own was totally destroyed.

There are other forum threads like this, but none of them work or seem right.

I use an HP Pavillion x360 model and it is on the latest updates.

My adapter that causes these problems is a Pifco AB13X (AB13X is what it is called in my device manager, so I suppose thats its model name?)

It would be great if I could find a solution to this. :D

(Also, I just found out it only does it when the video/audio is playing sound)

This is because you're using a non-mic earphone, and that adapter is for earphone with mic.

Go to Device Manager & find your headphones under Audio inputs & outputs. Select either the speakers or microphone option associated with your headset. Then go to View -> devices by connection. There should be a USB Input device listed, with HID-compliant consumer control device under it. That HID device is for the volume control. Right click to disable.

    Hi Movies.

Thanks for your feedback! In your feedback, I noticed that the problem doesn't exist when your computer's battery is dead, which could be due to static electricity generated when your computer was plugged into the adapter, which is likely to have an effect on your adapter, resulting in a constant alternation of "pause" and "resume play" when you play audio. You can contact HP's official support staff to help you resolve this issue. Generally speaking, the following steps are used to eliminate static electricity:

1 Unplug all external devices connected to your computer, and also unplug the power adapter.

2 Press and hold the power button for roughly 30 seconds or so until all the alert lights come on and go off

Meanwhile, you have mentioned that the blue screen issue occurs when you unplug the adapter after hibernating the computer and then plugging it in and switching it on again, regarding this issue, after the blue screen occurs, you can get the small dmp file by following the steps below, you can share this file with us, by checking out this .DMP file, it will enable us to help you find out the problem more accurately and fix it:

    1 Tap Window+R and type sysdm.cpl

2 Go to System Properties and click on the Advanced tab.

3 Find Startup and Fault Repair, click Settings

4 In Write debug information, select Small memory storage.

5 The following directory will change to

    %SystemRoot%\Minidump

You can remember this location, if you encounter the blue screen again, you can restart your computer and enter this location into Explorer, you can see the .DMP file created under the folder, upload this file to the netbook and provide the link to us, we will analyse it and provide you with further suggestions.

Here it is suggested that you can share the file with us via OneDive, please refer to the link below:

It appears that after some testing with other models, it seems that most of the ones I own are called 'AB13X USB Audio' by my PC's device manager - even unrelated brands. Those ones also have this problem. However, the very broken one (the first one I owned) had none of those issues. When I used my tablet which runs a different operating system, it seems that none of those issues take place with the AB13X models. I suppose it must be conflict between the computer hardware and AB13X hardware, causing it to have those problems. I have also noticed that the problem stopped when the computer battery dies while the adapter is plugged in (as in, when the battery dies and I charge it again, the problems stops for 5 minutes and happens again), and that when I hibernate the computer, unplug the adapter, plug it back in and turn it on, the computer crashes (with a blue screen, of course) shortly after - Twice in a row. It is most likely conflict. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do about the hardware conflict - but that's OK. At least my tablet doesn't have those problems (its headphone jack is broken too, but its been like that since I first got it 4 years ago).

Anyways, I also hope that if other people are having this problem, that the above solutions help! :D

    Hi Movies,

Welcome to Microsoft Community. I'm sorry to hear that the issue with the media player constantly auto-pausing and then continuing to reboot happened while you were using the USB to headphone adapter. Firstly it could be that some third party software is causing a conflict with your audio player, I recommend trying a clean boot which starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and then continues to reboot.

I recommend trying a clean boot which starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It can be used to determine whether a background It can be used to determine whether a background service or programme is interfering or causing a problem.

These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by-step.

If your computer does not experience the previous problems during the clean boot state, please uninstall any software on your computer that may have something to do with audio playback.

If the problem is still not resolved, please try the following steps:

    Conversion adapter device detection:

If your condition permits, you can connect your USB to headphone adapter to other functioning computer to see if it works properly to rule out the problem as a faulty device, if it is a faulty device, contact the manufacturer Pifco support (guessing the pause button is held down on that device)

Download the audio file locally to test:

I note that your audio file is in the form of an online file, and online files that download while playing are likely to cause a similar phenomenon in your video.

Meanwhile, I notice that you are not using the media player that comes with Windows, please use the one that comes with it to test it, and if it is OK, reinstall the media player:

1 Open Settings, select Applications, and then select Optional Features.

2 Delete Windows Media Player, restart your computer and then add Windows Media Player again.

If the above steps still do not solve your problem, we recommend that you contact your device manufacturer (HP) as well as the support staff at Pifco, the manufacturer of your USB to headphone adapter, for assistance.

I hope the above helps, if you have any other questions please continue to contact me, thank you for your support and understanding.

    Best Regards,
