Error 0x8007025D trying new installation of Win10 or Win11

My computer suddenly crashed and Windows restore did not work. I tried using Chkdsk but couldn't do it, it said the drive was locked. I decided to buy a new SSD in case mine had died. Installed the new SSD and went to install Windows. I first tried Win11 and then Win10 using a USB Drive with the Windows installation tool and they both fail with error 0x8007025D.

I did some research here and tried a few suggestions:

  • I initially had 2 USB Drives, one with Win10 and one with Win11 and they didn't work.
  • I tried using different USB ports and got the same error.
  • So I went and bought 2 new USB drives, one 32Gb USB 3.0 and one 16 Gb USB 2.0. Got the same error installing Win11.
  • I have 2 RAM sticks, tried removing one and the other, got the same error.
  • Another suggestion was to create a partition of 125 Gb, didn't try that, my SSD is 1 Tb and the old one is also 1 Tb and Windows installed fine before.

I don't know what else to do, any suggestions?

Hi favosys. In this case I recommend additionally Downloading the Windows ISO image again: I recommend the ISO image directly from the official Microsoft website.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

Then Recreate the bootable USB drive: Use a different tool to create the USB drive, such as Rufus or Media Creation Tool.

Additionally Check the BIOS settings: it is necessary Reset to factory settings: Reset the BIOS settings to default values and Disable security options

    Hi Ivan,

With my original 2 USB drives I tried the media creation tool several times and again with both windows 10 and 11.

I then went and bought 2 more USB drives and tried it again with the media creation tool.

I tried to reset the BIOS but didn't find the option in the system, apparently it needs to be physically done with the pins.

Then I tried creating the bootable drive with Rufus AND THAT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FINALLY!!!!!!!!1

(I also did the diskpart thing again)

Thank you so much for your amazing help!!

Hi. My name is Ivan, and I am an Independent Advisor. I'd be more than happy to assist you. I'm so sorry that you are experiencing this issue. My working hours vary & I usually reply between 09:00am & 6:00pm Monday to Sunday - (GMT-5).

The first thing I'm going to do is turn off my PC and turn it back on with the installation pendrive in place and proceed to turn off the PC and turn it back on.

Here you will have to start the Windows installation. Now press the shift + f10 keys. This will open CMD and here you will write diskpart and press enter.

type List and press enter and once this is done type Select Disk 1 or select disk 0 in the case of having two disks in the unit then type clean to clean the selected disk and it will indicate the disk was successfully cleaned now type convert mbr and it will indicate diskpart successfully converted the selected disk to the mbr format Close the console and with this the problem would be solved.
