Laptop home screen turned black, but taskbar and icons still working fine

I was working on my laptop today with no issues. When I was done, I shut it down. I realized i forgot to do something so I started it up again, but when it booted up, the home screen background was all black, but all icons on the home screen and taskbar were visible and working fine. I tried restarting the laptop again to see if my original background would return, but it was still black when I booted it back up again. I then went to the "personalization" section of the settings and changed the black background to my original one, which worked just fine. Should I be concerned over the sudden appearance of a black background? It was fixed easily, but it still seems weird that it happened at all. My laptop is a Lenovo ThinkPad and runs on Windows 11, if that's relevant at all.

    Hi, John.

Thank you so much for your reply.

Unfortunately, this happened again today, and - despite following your directions via scanning my files and restarting my laptop - my background is still black. However, this problem seems easily fixed by simply going into the "personalization" section of the settings and changing the background image.

Since this is the second time that this black screen happens, could this be indicative of a virus or some kind of malware on my laptop? When I scanned my files using the process you mentioned, there were no reported abnormalities or malware found on my laptop, so I find it weird that this happened again.

Please let me know if you are able to help me with this.

    Best,

    AB
