Hello,

I am trying to use Google Meets but the laptop microphone is not working.

I already check the Microphone Settings and apparently is everything allright.

How can I solve this issue?

    Hello Renata,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community and I'll be glad to assist you today.

I am sorry that you are experiencing issues with your Microphone.

    1. Does the laptop's internal microphone work with other applications, like on the Windows default Sound Recorder app?

Open the Windows Sound Recorder and record a voice clip. If it works, there might be an issue with the permission settings for the Google Meet app. You can check this in Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone, and make sure Google Chrome is enabled.

If the microphone does not work anywhere else, try some troubleshooting steps to see if it resolves the issue.

Method 1.Check if the Microphone is muted.

    1. Type mmsys.cpl in the search bar on the taskbar, and click enter.
    2. In the recordings tab, right-click the default Microphone device and select properties.
    3. In the levels tab, ensure the Mic is not muted and the volume is set to 100%.

    Method 2.Re-install generic audio drivers:

    a. Open Device Manager.

    b. Select the arrow next to Sound Video and Game Controllers.

    c. Right-click your Generic audio driver (usually Realtek (R)), select Uninstall device, select the Attempt to remove the driver for this device check box, and then select Uninstall.

    d. Once uninstalled, restart your PC.

(this restart will automatically install the drivers for your computer)

    e. Go to Settings > System > Sounds > Choose your input device, ensure your laptop internal mic is selected, and test the Microphone.

I hope this information helps. If you have any questions, please let me know and I will be happy to help you further.

    Best regards,

    Gunasekar N
