Please send the make and model of your device. (Please press Windows key + R and type msinfo32 and hit enter, look for system model)

    1. Run the Audio troubleshooter

Click on the Start menu and type Troubleshoot and then press enter

Find the Audio option and then run it

    Check if the problem persists.

    1. Check if your speaker was set as the default device.

To check, press Windows key + R and type mmsys.cpl then press enter

On the Playback tab, make sure the speaker is marked as the default device

    1. Also make sure that it is not set to mute.
    2. Update or Reinstall the Sound, video and game controllers

Please press the Windows key + X

    Then click Device manager

Kindly expand the Sound, video and game controllers

If the issue persists Choose "Browse my computer for driver" instead

and click " Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer"

    Choose the older version.

If it will still the same, please uninstall the driver and restart your device.

Once done, please restart your device. No worries as it will reinstall the drivers automatically after restart. Please check if the issue was fixed after the reboot..

Please let me know the result. I'll be happy to assist you all the way until it's resolved.

    Thank you,

    Christine L

    Hi Christine,

I did two shutdowns and a restart but the audio would not work, but the second time I did a restart, the audio came back on. Very strange.

After I had downloaded the audio driver from Lenovo, it still did not work. The computer was frozen all morning for hours during probably the Windows update, and the computer seems sluggish after that, and the pages take a long time to open. All kinds of issues arise after the Windows update every time. I received an email from Windows team that there was an unusual login at 9 am GMT, but when I clicked on the button for checking activity, the Windows site did not show the login. It just showed failed logins by hackers every day before that.

Anyway, the problem got solved, so I appreciate your help.

    Thanks very much!

    Hi Castle_143,

    Thanks for updating me. Appreciated.

If you don't mind me asking, after installing the driver from Lenovo site, may I know if the issue still persists?

    Regards,

    Christine

    Hi Christine,

Thank you for your kind help.

    The system model is 80U4.

Troubleshooter says the audio jack cannot be located.

The computer shows that the audio driver is installed and functioning properly.

    Speaker is default.

I reinstalled the driver and tried the older version.

    I uninstalled and rebooted.

    Sound still cannot be heard.

I think I experienced this couple of times before when Windows updated.

I did go to the Lenovo site to download the audio driver again.

It must be a gremlin inside the computer.
