Hi all, I hope you are having a great day. I would like to ask which antivirus software I should uninstall since I have both Avast and McAfee free versions in my computer, and I have realized that this is causing my battery to drain quickly. I appreciate any help you can provide.

    Hello MinnieUng,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community and I'll be glad to assist you today.

Here in the community, we do not recommend installing any third-party antivirus software, as it may affect system performance and drain power. In your situation, it appears that you have multiple antivirus software installed, and in addition, Windows Security by Microsoft is already pre-installed on the system. This may consume more power and your battery may drain quickly.

Therefore, you will need to disable or completely uninstall one of the software. (or Both). From my personal experience, I recommend disabling Avast rather than McAfee, as McAfee has better features and a more efficient scanner, and may consume fewer memory and system resources compared to Avast. However, this information is solely based on my personal experience. I would never recommend any user to use third-party antivirus software when Windows Security can handle everything and provides advanced system protection.
I hope this information helps. If you have any questions, please let me know and I will be happy to help you further.

    Best regards,

    Gunasekar N

    Hello Minnie Ung,

I would Recommend To Uninstall both of the antiviruses if you are an average user because in windows 10 and above versions comes pre-installed with windows defender which is essential to be used if you aren`t an rough user and You Can Depend On Windows Defender For System Protection As It Is Better In Every Case Or Antiviruses. If You Do You Can Keep Avast Antivirus , Because McAfee Might Drain The Battery More Frequently Due To Its Processes.

    Hope That Helps
