Hello, my name is Jan and I'm happy to help you today. I'm sorry you're having this problem with your screen. This can be related to driver problems, display settings or other hardware problems. Ensure that the display cables are attached properly. Here are a few things you can try.

    1. Power cycle/reset your computer.

Press the power button for 10 seconds to turn off

then unplug your AC adapter for 30 seconds

    then plug in your adapter.

    then start your device.

    1. Press Windows Key + X

    select Device Manager.

    Expand the Display Adapter

    select the graphics driver

Try to disable and re-enable the driver

    1. Check the display settings.

    Right-click on your desktop background

    Select Display settings.

    And under "Choose Display"

select the monitor on the list

    Under Display Information

Click the Display Adapter properties for Display

    click Adapter Tab

    Click List All modes

From the list select the native resolution and supported refresh rate of the monitor

Scroll down then select Advance display settings.

Ensure that the refresh rate matches the monitor's supported refresh rate.

    1. Download and install the latest graphics driver. Download the latest driver from the manufacturer's site and install it. Also, try the old driver if the latest driver does not work.

If you have Nvidia or AMD graphics, select the custom install and

    Perform a clean install option.

    1. If none of the suggestions work. Try taking a screenshot with the snipping tool. Then check if the horizontal line appears in the screenshot image. If it does not appear, there is probably a problem with the monitor screen. Also, test the monitor on another working computer.

Use Snipping Tool to capture screenshots

    Hello,

Horizontal lines on a computer screen can be indicative of several issues, ranging from driver problems to hardware failures. Since the issue persists in safe mode and after updating the GPU driver, it's less likely to be software-related. Here are some steps you could consider:

    1. Check the monitor's connection to ensure it's secure and without damage. Sometimes, a faulty cable or port can cause display issues.
    2. If possible, connect your computer to a different monitor to determine if the line persists. This can help isolate the problem to either the monitor or the PC itself.
    3. Adjust the screen resolution and refresh rate in Windows settings. Incorrect settings here can sometimes cause display problems.
    4. Perform a power drain by turning off the computer, unplugging all cables, and holding down the power button for about 30 seconds. Then reconnect everything and power on.
    5. Inspect the monitor for any physical damage. If the line is due to a crack or scratch, it may require professional repair or replacement.
    6. If none of these steps resolve the issue, it could be a sign of a failing GPU or monitor, in which case consulting a professional technician or contacting the manufacturer for support would be the next step.

Remember, if you're not comfortable performing any of these steps, it's always best to seek professional assistance. Attempting repairs on your own can sometimes cause more harm if not done correctly. If the device is under warranty, reaching out to the manufacturer's customer service can provide you with repair or replacement options.

    Hope this helps,

    Fathia A
