Windows 11 - how to create backup on external hard drive

I just upgraded to Windows 11 from Windows 10. I made full system backups monthly to an external hard drive. I can't find where I can do that in Windows 11. When I found the Windows backup, it appears to only allow backup to the cloud, which I don't want to do.

Help!

Aha! Searching for File History in the Start Menu searchpanel worked!

I am using method 2, but the backup doesn't seem to recognize the external hard drive, even though it appears in the File Explorer. It either tells me the location doesn't exist or tells me the backup completed successfully, but it doesn't copy new files.

Your suggestion sounds promising Brandon JC, but how do I "navigate to the old Control Panel"?

Does the Backup Hard Drive have to be a dedicated drive for only backup, if I do a full image backup of my main drive? Does any data from other storage actions get destroyed and overwritten by the full image backup on the destination Drive?
