I had the same problem and I noticed that the Geforce experience app keeps crashing

After an uninstall/reinstall the problem solved.

I suggest you to check your apps and see if they are working properly.

I had the same problem and I noticed that the Geforce experience app keeps crashing

After a uninstall/reinstall the problem solved.

I suggest you to check your apps and see if they are working properly.

My problem was with the Geforce experience app as well.

I had 3000+ Windows Host Process (Rundll32) going, increasing every day, and I came across this reply. I thought I'd try to boot up Geforce, just to be sure. It failed to launch, giving some long error code and telling me to restart my PC. When restarting my PC did not work, I uninstalled Geforce experience. I confirmed this app being the problem when the said Windows Host Process asked for my permission to make changes on my computer as I did the uninstallation (I did run anti-virus just in case it was malicious, came up with nothing). I then reinstalled the app, and while there's still a singular Windows Host Process Rundll32 in my background processes, as there should be since it's a crucial Windows background tool, it hasn't started mindlessly multiplying. I'd say the problem has been solved for the time being.

Thank you for this reply, it saved my sanity.

The amount of memory being used by the processes in your image adds up to less than 50 MB, which is tiny. And they aren't using any of the CPU's resources. Most of the processes in your image look like placeholders - allocated by the system in anticipation of something to do.

Applications are broken into processes so that they can run faster and more reliably. Faster - because the CPU can process smaller amounts of data at a time; and more reliable - because if one process crashes it's far less likely to take down the whole application.

What matters more: Click on the header of the Memory column to show the processes in order of highest use of memory to lowest use. That's the way to see what applications are using the most of your memory.

To summarize: Seeing lots of processes, by itself, is inconclusive. ATM I have 171 processes and no problems. I don't think you need to worry.
