HP laptop frequently freezes for a few seconds and then unfreezes

For the past month or so, at least several times a day my laptop freezes for a few seconds and then unfreezes on its own. I tried reinstalling the operating system using HP USB recovery media, but that didn't fix the problem. Any ideas on what the problem might be and what I can do to fix it? Thanks for your assistance.

Thanks very much, Bernard. I learned a lot from reading your post. I'm going to follow your instructions to the T and hopefully that will take care of the problem. I won't know for a bit whether your suggestions will solve the problem because it will take me some time to test them out. If they fix the problem, I'll come back to this page and mark that your suggestions have worked.

Hi, thank you for patiently waiting, upon analyzing and checking the event logs you have, there are multiple errors in Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct (NDIS), which is a Windows Driver framework that is associated with the Network drivers, which allows communication between hardware and connected devices, for us to fix the issue, kindly follow the steps below and I hope that works:

Method 1. Roll back the Network driver.

-Press the Windows key + X

    -Go to Device Manager

    -Expand the Network Adapters

-Look for the LAN and Wi-Fi driver

    -Right-click and click "Update Driver"

-Look for "Browse my computer for driver"

-Click "Let me pick drivers available drivers on my computer"

-Choose an old driver or other names of the driver then select it and hit next until it installs.

    Method 2. Do clean boot:

A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program.

    • In the search box on the taskbar, type msconfig and select System Configuration from the results.
    • On the Services tab of System Configuration, select Hide all Microsoft services, and then select Disable all.
    • On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select Open Task Manager.
    • Under Startup in Task Manager, for each startup item, select the item and then select Disable.
    • Close Task Manager.
    • On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select OK. When you restart the computer, it's in a clean boot environment.

If none will work from the above solution, I suggest doing an in-place upgrade wherein it will upgrade the device to the latest version and repair all issues without deleting any files.

Kindly follow the steps from this link:

Note: If the issue persists, please download and install a LAN and Wi-Fi driver from your manufacturer's website and or update the BIOS with the help of the PC manufacturer.

Thanks very much, Bernard—I appreciate your help. Here is the link to my system logs: https://1drv.ms/f/c/1b69fc9d9f62d8cc/EszYYp-d_GkggBs9FAAAAAABTFf_pZtqIZb7T_W1G0XaZg?e=Q8jkIp I should add that before doing my original post yesterday, I did a UEFI extended hardware check and everything passed. I am able to use the affected laptop. The freezing causes some unwanted actions, though, such as deleting emails I didn't want to delete.
