I can't seem to find the "Preferred graphics processor" setting on my Nvidia Control Panel. The only similar option is "Preferred Refresh Rate."

I only started to have this problem when I recently updated my Nvidia driver.

Yeah don't worry this problem came with the latest driver of Nvidea Version 565.90, just go back to the 561.09 and wait for a fix, you don't always need the latest driver of Nvidea so don't worry it won't affect you a lot.

Here is someone complaining about the same problem on Reddit if you want to see some other point of view :

I think this may actually be a bug with the latest Nvidia drivers as it only started happening since they were released a few days ago.

This has been happening to me ever since the nvidia driver update. It isnt only when resetting the pc or shutting it down. It happens whenever I turn my monitor off. I havent tried rolling the driver back yet but it probably works.

Hi Wilson, thanks for reaching out. My name is Bernard a Windows fan like you. I'll be happy to help you out today, my timezone is UTC +8.

I understand the issue you have, there is nothing to worry I am here to help, this issue occurs when the GPU-preferred processor and PhysX are set to automatic which we need to set to manual, kindly follow the steps below:

    Step 1.

In the Search bar, search for "Nvidia Control Panel"

Once you open Nvidia Control Panel > Select > Manage 3D Settings > Under "Preferred graphics processor" select "High-performance Nvidia Processor"

    Step 2.

Once you open the Nvidia Control Panel > Select "Configure Surround, PhysX" > Under "PhysX settings" choose your Nvidia Processor.

Once done, restart the PC and check.

If the issue persists, we need to run a Clean installation of the Nvidia driver, this is different from doing DDU or updating the driver as this will remove all entries and replace them with compatible ones, kindly follow the steps from the link below:
