I've lost my password for an old laptop with Windows 7 so can't even delete files or update to Windows 10. I've tried hard reset but never get the screen showing options, eg safe mode shown in online tutorials

    1. We can not tell you how to break into a computer.
    2. The free or paid upgrade to 10 is over.

"What to do if you forget your Windows password"

Copy/pasted from original link before Microsoft altered it.

"If you forget the administrator password and don't have a password reset disk or another administrator account, you won't be able to reset the password. If there are no other user accounts on the computer, you won't be able to log on to Windows and will need to re-install Windows."

You can borrow the exact same edition of Windows 7 Retail DVD and use your Product Key on the COA sticker to reinstall the operating system.
