Hello!
I’m seeking advice on whether I should perform a clean installation of Windows 11 or consider alternative methods to recover my system’s performance. I am about to start a long and intensive project that will last for 6 to 7 months, and I need my machine to perform at its absolute best.
System Information:
Current Situation:
I last performed a clean installation of Windows around 12-18 months ago. Over time, the system’s performance has noticeably slowed down, and I know from experience that a clean install could help improve responsiveness. However, I'm concerned about the time and effort required to reinstall my software and reconfigure all my settings. Given the extensiveness of my setup, I’m hesitant to start from scratch, especially with the long project I’m about to start.
Essentially, my dilemma is:
Current Problems:
What I’ve Tried:
I’ve taken several steps to try to resolve these issues, which include:
DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth and sfc /scannowmdsched.exe to check for memory issues, but no errors were found.verifier) to check for problematic drivers, but no issues were flagged.eventvwr): Checked system logs for critical errors but didn’t find anything definitive.perfmon /report): Generated a performance report, which highlighted high CPU and thermal issues.Start-MpScan -ScanType FullScan).taskmgr): Monitored system resource usage but could not pinpoint a particular process causing the CPU spikes.winsat formal): Ran to assess overall system performance, but no significant issues appeared in the results.Given the above, I’m torn between performing a clean installation of Windows or continuing with diagnostics and optimizations.
Any advice? Let me know if I should post additional details or if you need screenshots on my end.

Hi ,
I asked this question because it is very strange, you are suffering from high temperatures with only 50% use in addition to the keyboard failures.
In this case, I would recommend a clean installation, I know it is hard work, but if you are going to start a project soon, it is better to have a clean system without a lot of unnecessary things installed in the long term, this would be more beneficial.
Now if you still have keyboard failures and high temperatures after formatting at low CPU usage, it could still be hardware.
If possible, do a test with Ubuntu in potable mode and check if the same problem occurs.
Hope this helps.

Thank you very much for your prompt response.
I decided to follow your suggestion and I have just performed a clean installation on the machine, making sure to set it up the without signing in to the Microsoft Account (during the initial set-up procedure) so to avoid importing any junk contained in Windows' backup. While I could have benefited from importing the preferences/settings, I realized that there was no way to exclude the "apps", which obviously would have created more issues that benefits.
At this stage the machine is running smooth again and I have no CPU / fan problems.
I also take this occasion to ask you if there are any mandatory / recommended steps (even advanced) I could follow to improve even more the performance of my machine. I recall going through several steps a couple of years ago, but I couldn't perform all of them again without having to Google / go through tutorials. Like, increasing the page size and so on...

Yes, of course. The computer had 3 year warranty being a ConceptD product. It was maintained by their certified assistance.
Hi ,
I am Ivan, I will help you with this.
Was this maintenance on the fans and keyboard carried out by Acer itself?
