How do I remove Microsoft family safety features from my account and PC?

Hello.

I am 25 year old adult. Sadly my Mom passed away 2 years ago. Microsoft family features is annoying me constantly with pop ups etc. I have been trying to remove Microsoft family safety features from my account and my computer but I cant. Mom's email is terminated, her phone number is gone, everything is gone and settled. So I have nothing to recover her account. I still try to go through the process with her email and password by answering questions but "information I supply is not sufficient". I have tried other things to delete Family Features off my PC or disable it but nothing works.

I helped Mom make this account ages ago, back when she got me and my sibling an XBOX. This is because when I made a Microsoft account for myself, I put my real age so I couldn't get XBOX live without making my parent a Microsoft account and linking it or something. (This was over a decade ago so I'm a little foggy on the details.)

How can I remove myself from Microsoft Family Features if I'm not the "family organiser", and I cant login to Moms Microsoft account?

I don't want to create a new account, I just want this resolved.

If someone could help me, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Hello ShawnZ,

Thank you for your reply to my query.

I have followed your instructions and I believe that I have removed myself from the family group. I am looking forward to not getting "Microsoft family features sign in" pop ups every time I wanna open task manager etc.

I don't know how I couldn't figure it out before. I feel a little embarrassed but, I'm glad that you could help me.

    Thank you & Happy Halloween.

    Kind regards,

    Tommy

    Dear Tommy_137

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community.

If you are currently an adult in your account age.

You can try to leave your current home group by referring to the following program.

Leave family group or remove members - Microsoft Support

    1. Using a web browser, sign in to family.microsoft.com.
    2. Click  next to your name and select Leave family group.
    3. Select Remove to confirm.

Wait for the server information to finish updating.

Your Windows computer will no longer see this error message.

However, many community users have recently reported some status anomalies in Microsoft Family that may affect your removal action, so you can try the steps above first to see if they work.
