Using the most recent version of MS Visual Studio 2022. After downloading multiple templates referring to Forum Question (How to add web service asmx file in vs 20220) I am still not able to find "Web Service (ASMX)" What more is required in order to get the template for an ASMX file that I have to create for a PERL script I wrote to create the Cherwell API I need to open incidents and change tickets?

You can refer to the link to add Web Service (ASMX) file in VS 2022: create ASP.NET Web Application(.NET Framework) project > right-click your project > Add > New Item… > search Web Service (ASMX) > click on
Add.If you can’t find the ASP.NET Web Application(.NET Framework) project template in VS2022, please close all instances of Visual Studio and open your VS installer > Modify > install “.NET Framework project and item templates” in Individual components.

2023-04-19T11:31:23.91+00:00 In case anyone else runs into this, it's not enough to add the .NET framework project and item templates from the installer, you will actually have to recreate your web app project from scratch if you've already created one. Nobody seems to be mentioning this and it caused me to waste half an hour, so just putting it out there.
