Windows 11 is a total disaster. I have one laptop computer that has been hung up on restart after update for 12 days now. It is just idling away and no one at microsoft can do a thing to help me fix this. And this is why I am going Apple from now on because there is no useful customer service from microsoft at all. And the forums are useless.

2024-08-15T00:37:20+00:00 My laptop screen just stays black-only indication it’s on is the whirring sound and the sound it usually makes after I restart it, no logo or anything like that

2024-02-17T07:05:24+00:00 Hello there, I'm Gopal an Independent Advisor. I will try my best to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your PC not booting after a Windows 11 update. Do you see any specific error messages or codes on the screen during the boot attempt?
Please try the following steps and see if that helps
- Power drain the computer
Hold down the power button for about 30 seconds until your computer shuts down forcefully. Once it's off, wait for a few seconds and then try to turn it on again.
- Start the computer in safe mode
Hold down the power button for 10 seconds to turn off your device.
Press the power button again to turn on your device.
On the first sign that Windows has started (for example, some devices show the manufacturer’s logo when restarting) hold down the power button for 10 seconds to turn off your device.
Press the power button again to turn on your device.
When Windows restarts, hold down the power button for 10 seconds to turn off your device.
Press the power button again to turn on your device.
Allow your device to fully restart. You will enter winRE.
On the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
After your device restarts, you'll see a list of options. Select option 5 from the list or press F5 for Safe Mode with Networking.
For more information: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/sta...
Once entered into the safe mode, please try to update all the drivers and restart the computer to see if that normally boots Windows.
If the issue persists please try the following,
In the WinRE window,
Troubleshoot -> Advanced options -> Uninstall updates
Troubleshoot -> Advanced options -> System Restore
Troubleshoot -> Advanced options -> Reset the computer
I hope this will help you to sort out the issue. Please let me know if you need further assistance. Thank you!
Regards,
Gopal

I'm not happy either I have a well specced video edit PC is about five years old will go through process then says can't run it I tried forced upgrade but it won't boot and reverts to Windows 10.
And a Del laptop also quite powerful about same age and that won't even start the forced upgrade it's also unsupported without.
So Microsoft want me to spend about £3000 on new computers and chuck these two on Windows 10 in the bin?
How long before they come up with a similar wheeze to make Windows 12 obligatory but oh no your computer won't run it and need to buy new again.
It's OK though because they are very green and will offset their carbon by buying out farms and rewilding them.
