I have had this same (or similar) issue with windows 10 ever since a windows update earlier this year. I spent over 2 hours on the phone with Microsoft support. They did the same steps. Try a different port, different computer , etc. mine is definitely not a problem with the flash drive. Finally they had me go back to before the update and it worked. But while it was going back (as that took almost 30 minutes) we got disconnected. Then as soon as my computer updated again it stopped working. It is most likely an issue with the update or the drivers. The weird thing is it will work if I plug it into my printer’s usb port that is then connected to the computer flawlessly. But any usb port on the computer it won’t work unless I revert back to the last 2023 update. I have just spent too much time on it and haven’t had a full free day to call them back again. I really wish Microsoft would fix this. I just don’t have all kinds of time to deal with this. Oh and it’s even more weird that this only happens with the Lexar flash drives.

Hi, My name is Ahmet, and I am an Independent Advisor. I hope you're well, I'm sorry that you are experiencing this issue. I'd be more than happy to assist you.

    Step 1: Basic Connection Checks

Use a Different USB Port: Try plugging your USB drive into a different USB port. If possible, try it on another computer.

Reinsert the USB Drive: Remove and reinsert the USB drive. This may resolve connection problems.

    Step 2: Check Disc Management

Right-click on the Start menu and select Disc Management.

Find your USB drive in the list and right-click it.

Select Change Drive Letter and Path to assign a new drive letter.

This can sometimes make the unrecognised drive accessible again.

Step 3: Check Disc with Command Prompt

Type cmd in the Start menu, right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.

    Enter the following command:

    chkdsk D: /f /r /x

Replace D: with the letter of your USB drive. This command checks for and repairs file system errors.

Step 4: Recover USB Drive without Formatting

If data recovery software can recover your files, save them to another safe location. After recovery, you may want to consider formatting your USB drive:

Right-click on the Start menu and select Disk Management.

Right-click on your USB drive and select Format.

Select NTFS or exFAT as the file system and start the formatting process.

    Additional Information and Precautions

Backup: Regularly back up your important files. You can use cloud storage or external hard drives.

USB Connection Problems: Use the "Safely Remove" option to safely remove your USB drive from the computer. Sudden removal may cause file system errors.

These steps should help you recover important files on your USB drive. Hope you can solve your problem.

Let me know how it goes and hopefully it will help.

    Have a wonderful day.

    Yours sincerely,

    Ahmet

Thank you for the advice, but it doesn't seem like anything worked. I am not able to get my corrupted files because they are in art formats and I can't have everything transferred. Thank you again for your response.
