Is there a way to change audio devices used on calls in Phone Link?

I have a headset (with mic) which is set as the default speaker and microphone for communications, and I also have some desktop speakers and a standalone microphone which are always plugged in.

By default, Phone Link is using the desktop speakers and the standalone microphone, and doesn't appear to have any options to actually change which audio devices are being used on calls, neither from the settings tab nor from within the call window.

Defaulting to these two devices may be a weird Microsoft thing because Teams calls in Edge do exactly the same thing (not a concern though, I can change devices in settings) but no third party apps seem to have a problem checking and adhering to my audio device defaults.

Regardless, the main issue is not that Phone Link selects the wrong devices, it is that I have no option to change which devices are being used.

This has been a problem for years. Please tell the developers to update the app with IN-APP AUDIO SETTINGS that allow us to choose the input and output devices on the PC side for making calls with. It's not enough to use the default or default communications device. Some of us have very complex audio device setups, and can't compromise over this app alone. I do music and sound professionally, so if I have to undo my setup for all that just to make a phone call, it's a problem with the app asking me to do that.

Edit: I should note that the app (Phone Link) also does not show up in the system's (Windows) audio settings, where you'd at least be able to change the output device for it, as you are with any other app. It doesn't even show in the add/remove apps list. It shows only as a system component, which doesn't get any of those options. There are no easy workarounds for a feature that the app should have, but inexplicably doesn't.

Just wanted to chime in and confirm this is still an issue as of November 21, 2024.

I fully agree with the above post from @Tangle Nathair.

    Microsoft, please fix this!

There isn't an option for "Audio Device" when you're in or outside of a call. On the phone side they have an option, but it doesn't select audio devices on the computer itself.
