The most likely issue is a hardware problem with the PCIe slot on the motherboard. To confirm whether the problem is with the motherboard, I recommend installing the GPU into another device. If the GPU works correctly in another system without any issues, then it’s a strong indication that the motherboard (or PCIe slot) is the problem in your current device, and you may need to replace the motherboard.

Before purchasing or replacing a motherboard, I suggest going to a repair center for a professional diagnosis. They will have more specialized equipment to confirm the issue accurately.

Hi John, Thank you for your response, Unfortunately I already tried to reseat the GPU into the PCIe slot. And I also do not have another PCIe slot in my computer.

It sounds like the issue could be related to the PCIe slot or the connection between your GPU and motherboard. A failure in the PCIe slot, a loose connection, or a defect in the GPU or motherboard could prevent the system from recognizing the GPU and cause it to malfunction.

    To troubleshoot further, I recommend:

Checking that your GPU is securely seated in the PCIe slot.

If possible, try reseating it in a different PCIe slot to see if that resolves the issue.

Hi Bernard Thanks for the Reply! Unfortunately things have not improved.

For some reason I don't even have the "Preferred graphics processor" setting in the Nvidia Control Panel. I was able to do step 2 but nothing fixed. I even did the Clean installation of the Nvidia driver. For some reason, after testing to see if the GPU would fail after running a game, the adapter did not pop up as an option in the device manager. And Even when I launch any sort of Nvidia app, it tells me that there is no GPU even there as if it just disappeared.

I also did a BIOS SCAN for any hardware problems and one popped up about a PCIe adapter problem. Unfortunately I am not really knowledgeable where this can be found nor what the problem is:

    Thanks Again.

    Tristan

Hi, thanks for reaching out. My name is Bernard a Windows fan like you. I'll be happy to help you out today, my timezone is UTC +8.

I understand the issue you have, there is nothing to worry I am here to help, this error occurs when there is a miscalibration of the GPU driver or the settings or the game is on high which cannot be handled by the GPU, in addition, for us to sort out the issue, kindly follow the steps below:

    Step 1.

In the Search bar, search for "Nvidia Control Panel"

Once you open Nvidia Control Panel > Select > Manage 3D Settings > Under "Preferred graphics processor" select "High-performance Nvidia Processor"

    Step 2.

Once you open the Nvidia Control Panel > Select "Configure Surround, PhysX" > Under "PhysX settings" choose your Nvidia Processor.

Once done, restart the PC and check.

If the issue persists, we need to run a Clean installation of the Nvidia driver, this is different from doing DDU or updating the driver as this will remove all entries and replace them with compatible ones, kindly follow the steps from the link below:
