After for over a year trying to figure out how to troubleshoot this problem, I took your advice on the instructions you gave and voila! I instantly had successful installation! I thought I tried this before and I even had other people trying to troubleshoot it and from experts, mind you, and they kept on saying it was an internal error. Thank you so much for this info!
Ilok license installation - 1935 and I think 1603 error.
Ok so ive read and tried the following started new thread as appears old ones locked
Have contacted support as this was updating a fully functional ilok driver to the latest version which has no rollback to reinstall the previous working version as the latest is failing HREPORT error.
Ive contacted Ilok who are finger pointing an issue with MS and Office - Ive run through it all see below.
Ive tried rolling back no success and really want to avoid a full reinstall (which will take approximately 10 days on off of a restore, updates, software activations and so on (500+ programs) but thats the rig Im dealing with.
Im struggling ith Pace/Ilok as they seem slow to respond and have so far pointed me to all the sources ive already tried.
Any help much appreciated please as I have deadlines on projects and this is the first time in 10+ years of using lok Ive had an issue.
Ive tried restoring and this still has the same outcome.
COPY of email to ilok:
Notes what I have attempted over the last 48 hours.
I receive a 1706 error or 1603 error when installing pace or iLok drivers...
Error 1935 and 1603 When installing Ilok License Support Tool - Microsoft Community
ilok Windows 10 error 1603 &1935 error fix - YouTube
The last is useless as the driver wont install as per video – its showing dongle installed in system usb protection.
Installing the driver alone does not work. Im assuming from the link you’ve sent it’s the (default) key only to be deleted and not the other 2 folders and their subfolders?
Ive attemped to claen up using the associated reg clean tool that comes with the driver.
The diagnostic tools sights the windows firewall I have switched it off and it still doesn’t want to play ball.
No luck with Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile.
I tried installing however get
Ran task manager going back to step one to see if in my system again.
Not there
Do I need this its unclear why does ilok suddenly need additional software all of a sudden
The regedit running in admin fails I could only delete the 1^st^ sub folder you can see.
Ive tried all the following:
https://help.ilok.com/faq_ilm.html#windows_repair
BTW Ive just noticed the below -
There is no option to repair I have ticked ASP.NET4.8 assuming its needed as was unticked – again the guide you’ve linked to appears very out of touch with current os and releases ie win 11?
No avail.
Ive tried switching off windows search.
Ive run ccleanerpro trial version to see if that helps as suggested.
The only piece of software that works and doesn’t seem to do anything with the ilok is :
Windows for home | Windows 11 | Devices and drivers

2023-08-19T14:57:14+00:00 In July 2023, I migrated from an older Windows desktop to a new Windows 11 desktop. I am encountering the same Pace License Support/iLok software installation issues reported by others here. I have reviewed solutions and workarounds reported at various sites. I believe the need for these manual procedures stems from Pace/iLok not updating their software to be compatible with current versions of Windows.
Here is the installation-time error with the Pace License Support setup wizard: MsiError.png.
(Note: I am currently unable to successfully upload images to answers.microsoft.com using the form or copy/paste. It's the issue others have already reported at https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/insert-image-is-failing-to-upload/cec89c67-918f-47d4-a71a-4effac4ae82a. As a workaround, I'm posting links to images as saved to OneDrive.)
After this error message occurs during iLok license manager installation, this message appears in the Windows Application event log:
Product: PACE License Support Win64 -- Error 1935.An error occurred during the installation of assembly component {844EFBA7-1C24-93B2-A01F-C8B3B9A1E18E}. HRESULT: 0x80070005. assembly interface: IAssemblyCacheItem, function: Commit, assembly name: Microsoft.VC80.CRT,type="win32",version="8.0.50727.762",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="amd64"
VC80 is VC8, also known as Visual Studio 2005. Per https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/products/microsoft-visual-studio-2005, extended support for Visual Studio 2005 ended in 2016. At this point, I contacted iLok support to ask why their software is reliant on no-longer-supported Microsoft components. iLok support stated this is a known issue with Windows systems not specific to their installer. This statement below is from their FAQs page at https://help.ilok.com/faq_ilm.html. (For context, a screenshot of this iLok support page in its current form is at iLokWebsiteFaq.png.)
This is caused by corruption in Windows .NET and will cause any installer using .NET components to fail (for example, MS-Office). May also produce an error 1935.
Both this FAQs page and the iLok support representative directed me to Microsoft support article showing similar behavior during attempted installation of Microsoft 2010: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926804. I continued the discussion with the iLok support representative, calling out that Office 2010 is not supported as of October 2020, per https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/end-of-support-for-office-2010-3a3e45de-51ac-4944-b2ba-c2e415432789. Windows 11 was released in October 2021, a full year later. If a user attempts installation of Office 2010 on a Windows 11 host and encountered issues, Microsoft would justifiably say "that product is no longer supported".
iLok maintained that the issue rests with Microsoft, and is not specific to their installers. I showed them that the Windows MSI they author has specific instructions in it related to installation of the no-longer-supported Windows components that end up triggering the error on my Windows 11 host. This image clearly shows reliance on Visual Studio 2005 and Visual Studio 2008 components, both of which are no longer supported by Microsoft, and both of which are certainly not part of every Windows MSI package by default: PaceMsi.png. I'm nearing completion of my migration from an earlier Windows operating system version to a fresh Windows 11 computer. I have over 100 programs reported in Programs & Features. The iLok License Support application is the first and only application that is attempting to deploy these no-longer-supported components.
At this point, iLok support stated that to their knowledge, other Windows 11 users were successfully installing and using their software. I was not in position to dispute that, but I don't believe it matters. At time of writing, the iLok software deploys and relies on system components no longer supported or maintained by Microsoft. If a security vulnerability or exploit is identified with these components tomorrow, Microsoft is under no obligation to address it. This means any Windows host that uses the current iLok License Manager software is at risk.
For these reasons, I believe iLok's claim that their required license manager software is supported on Windows operating systems is false. I am currently unable to use the licenses for my iLok-protected software plugins on my Windows 11 host. At least, not without putting my host at risk, which is a non-starter.
(For those desperate for workarounds, I'm sorry to report that purchasing the $50 iLok USB dongle, and using the iLok license manager software through my older Windows desktop computer to transfer licenses to it, did not resolve my issue. When I attempted to load protected plugins on my Windows 11 computer with the updated iLok USB dongle attached, I was met with "you need to install iLok license manager" messages, which put me back to square one. Nobody should have to invest in the $50 dongle, because iLok claims their software works on Windows, and we've all made purchase decisions based on that.)
iLok support was prompt and courteous, but I am disappointed they and their company haven't acknowledged the legitimacy of this problem, or that they maintain it's somehow Microsoft or Windows users' burden.
To others encountering this situation, please make yourself known by replying to this, or clicking "this information was helpful", or clicking "I have the same question". Additionally, please contact the vendors of your iLok-protected software to make them aware of the situation. If vendor awareness increases, they can also use their channels to influence iLok software maintenance
Microsoft representatives - if you could review the information above and confirm my statements about Microsoft support timelines and reliance on older Visual Studio runtime components, it would help us significantly.

2023-08-19T20:12:15+00:00 Thank you for the prompt response. Once I found evidence that the iLok MSI was deploying and relying on no-longer-supported Microsoft components, I stopped looking for workarounds. The iLok MSI is the problem. Even if you can install it, it's not safe to - it puts your Windows system at risk.
Any company that develops software needs to maintain and update that software to account for changes in supporting operating systems over time. iLok is not doing that.

2023-07-16T11:58:03+00:00 Wow. Thank you for this. I needed to switch of my Eset Internet Security just to install the Pace Ilok software on Windows 11. We knew Ilok was ****, but this is another level.
