Cursor unable to work properly after installation of Win11 Update KB5044285

The cursor is unable to work correctly after installation of Win11 Update KB5044285.

After installing the KB5044285 update, the cursor response becomes slow and lagging and cannot operate. This issue happens when the desktop, the taskbar, or the computer setting window is active. The cursor will work as usual if I open a file explorer window.

The issue did not appear after I uninstalled this update. Could I skip this particular update and not impact the other updates in the future? Or is there any issue with this update that could be fixed later?

I'm facing the same issue on my PC.

The issue occurs after a few minutes to a few hours.
When the issue has occurred the mouse cursor works fine on the Ctrl+Alt+Del screen.
When the issue has occurred and I open Task Manager from the Ctrl+Alt+Del screen the mouse curser continues to work normally until I click anywhere.
When the issue has occurred and I lock the PC the mouse curser continues to work until I unlock the PC.
When the issue has occurred it affects all pointing devices I have tried.

The only temporary fixes I have found so far are to sign out or to restart the PC.

Or going further like I did to uninstall the update and pause updates.

    Pointing devices I have tried:
    Razer Mamba Elite (my default)
    Microsoft Basic Optical Mouse V2.0
Logitech Spotlight (presenter with pointer device capabilities)

I use PowerToys but the issue also occurs with all mouse features disabled.
Turning off Bluetooth also doesn't fix the issue (in case there is an issue with a paired input device such as my Xbox controller).

Repairing Windows also didn't help (in place reinstall of 23H2 through Settings app)

    Hardware (in case that helps)
    AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
Asus ROG Strix X570-E Gaming (latest stable BIOS from April 2024 version 5013 and latest AMD chipset drivers, latest Intel WiFi/Bluetooth and Ethernet drivers, lastest Realtek Audio and Ethernet drivers)
Zotac GeForce RTX 3070 Twin Edge LHR (lastest drivers 565.90)
Elgato HD60Pro (latest 4K capture utility)
Razer Huntsman (latest Razer Synapse software 20241011 and firmware)
Razer Mamba Elite (latest Razer Synapse software 20241011 and firmware)

Some of the software mentioned above was outdated when the issue first occurred but updating to the latest versions didn't fit it.

Okay first download show or hide updates package from below link

    https://download.microsoft.com/download/f/2/2/f...

Once you’ve installed it, open it and click on Advanced. Make sure to check the box for Apply repairs automatically, then click Next. Choose Hide updates, select the update you want to hide from installing from the list, and click Next. Follow the remaining steps, and the selected update should be hidden and won’t be installed.

Please try running the command in command prompt instead of powershell

Hi, I’m Vinay. Thanks for reaching out.

I’m here to help you today.

You can pause or block that particular update to avoid reinstalling until fix got released. To do this go to settings - windows updates - advanced options - pause updates.

Alternatively you can hide the particular update using below command in command prompt

    wusa /hide /kb:5044285

I hope this resolves your issue! If you have any queries, please let me know.

    Hi Vinay,

Thank you for the reply. I am unsure how long it takes for the fix to be released, so I've tried the second method.

However, I've got this prompt out, and it seems that /hide is not a valid command. Even after inputting this command, the system still installs this update. (The system language is not English. I've just using translating software for this screenshot)
