Dear FilipK,
Hello! Welcome to the Microsoft Community. I'm glad to be able to help you. If I don't understand your question, please let me know immediately.
I understand that you have experienced several Windows updates when using AirPods 2 Pro. Since the update, white noise will appear after the connection. I understand the trouble this problem has caused you, and I will try my best to help you solve it.
The AirPods 2 Pro you mentioned has a continuous white noise problem after connecting to Windows 11. It may be due to multiple factors, especially the Bluetooth compatibility problem caused by recent Windows and iOS updates. According to your description, you have tried many common solutions, including modifying the audio settings and the codec priority in the registry, but the problem still exists.
Possible reasons:
- Bluetooth driver compatibility problem: Windows 11 updates (especially 23H2 and 24H2 versions) may cause incompatibility of Bluetooth drivers or Bluetooth audio transmission protocols, especially with AirPods' AAC or ALAC codecs.
- Automatic codec downgrade: Windows may automatically use low-quality codecs such as SBC for audio transmission instead of high-quality AAC or ALAC supported by AirPods. The "Bluetooth Tweaker" software you mentioned temporarily solved the problem, indicating that Windows may not select the correct codec by default.
- AirPods firmware issue: Since your AirPods software was updated with iOS 18.1, it may also cause compatibility issues between the device and Windows.
Possible solutions:
- Update Bluetooth driver: Try updating or reinstalling your PC's Bluetooth driver, especially make sure you use the latest driver. Go to the driver download website provided by your notebook manufacturer (BIOS manufacturer for desktop computers), find the driver corresponding to your computer model and download and install it. If possible, we recommend that you use DDU uninstall tool to completely uninstall the old driver first, and then install the latest driver.
- Manually set the codec: You can try to manually set the codec to AAC through the "Bluetooth Tweaker" you mentioned or other third-party Bluetooth management tools. If it is confirmed that it can solve the problem, this may be a viable long-term solution.
- Firmware updates for Windows and AirPods: Make sure that both Windows and AirPods are updated to the latest version. Sometimes system updates can fix audio compatibility issues.
- Switch to another device test: If possible, try connecting AirPods to other Windows devices to see if the white noise problem still exists. If there is no problem, then the problem can be more clearly located in the current computer's Bluetooth configuration.
- Reset AirPods and re-pair: Although you mentioned that you have removed and re-added the device, you can try to completely reset the AirPods and try pairing again. Reset the AirPods by pressing and holding the button on the back of the AirPods charging case until the indicator light flashes.
If these steps still don't solve the problem, you may need to wait for Microsoft or Apple to release a new update, or consider using a more compatible Bluetooth headset.
Hope these steps can help you. If you have any questions, please let me know in time.
Best Wishes
