My new airpods pro 2, May 2024. latest version firmware and windows 11 latest version of everything: Windows pairs with Bluetooth 100%. The audio (speakers) work fine, but windows cannot "hear " the microphone. This is across Windows test (in settings) and zoom and Teams. Have reset, repaired, checked drivers etc. Mic works fine with other input devices, just not the airpod mic.

How can I resolve this? (Here's my settings screenshot):

Thanks, but this is the standard response unfortunately and none of it works.
As per several posts in this string - Windows does not allow Airpod Pro 2nd gen to work with microphone. Can use them for listening, but not the mic. Need an external mic (or use the on board mic)
This is a real pain and has been reported an issue since AirPod Pro 2 came out.

Why can't MS fix this? It must affect thousands of users worldwide!

I've identified a partial solution to the issue with my AirPods.
First, I removed them from my iPhone by deleting them from both the FindMy app and the Bluetooth devices list. Then, I performed a factory reset on the AirPods. After that, I paired them with my PC first, and to my delight, the microphone was working perfectly. However, when I paired them to my iPhone and then connected them to the PC again, the microphone stopped working once more.

    I found a solution!

I've had this issue for long time now and have tried every single thing, but have finally managed to get it to work!

The solution for me was to go into the Airpods settings on my iPhone and on the "Microphone" setting selected it to ALWAYS use my LEFT earbud as the mic. The default is "Automatic" which for some reason breaks the mic on certain windows 11 machines.

I hope this solution is consistent and works for everyone.

    Thank you.

This is certainly a Windows 11 issue and not an Apple issue, especially as many report that they work fine with Windows 10.

Is it possible to actually raise an error log with Microsoft, or is this community site the only thing MS now do to support errors/issues?

I am encountering the same problem with my AirPods Pro 2 - the microphone is not working when connected to my Windows 11 desktop. I have tested other Bluetooth headsets and they work fine. Even after updating to the new firmware for the AirPods (6F7) released today, the issue remains unresolved. When I attempt to use the microphone for testing, my AirPods switch to HFP (Hands-Free Profile), resulting in a noticeable change in sound quality. However, the microphone does not pick up any sound. To troubleshoot, I uninstalled the device, reinstalled all drivers, and repaired the connection to the PC. Despite taking these steps, the issue wasn't resolved, similar to the author's experience.
