Been using a Dell G15 5530 for more than one year. Very often the N, B, Spacebar keys stop working. Sometimes they work fine and sometimes they are totally insentitive to even hard press. OS, Drivers, BIOS are all up to date. On some occasions, these keys work in BIOS, sometimes they dont. Kindly help with a solution. Many Dell G15 users have been pointing out this issue on Online forums. Not sure if this is a hardware issue or software issue. I haven't tried using an external keyboard

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

    1

Open Command Prompt, then run this command and press Enter:

    msdt.exe -id KeyboardDiagnostic

Run that Keyboard Troubleshooter to see if that can solve the problem.

    2

If that does not resolve this for you

    Open Device Manager

    Expand the Keyboards section

Right click your keyboard and choose 'Uninstall'

    Then restart your laptop.

    3

If the problem is still not resolved:

Bring up the on-screen keyboard, are those keys working correctly on that keyboard?

Connect another external keyboard to your system, are those keys working correctly on that keyboard?

If both those keyboards work correctly, there is a hardware issue on your keyboard and it will need to be replaced.

Try to see if the keys are stuck.

    Try cleaning your keys.

Make sure filter and sticky keys aren't on by pressing WINDOWS+I, Settings, Accessibility, Keyboard and turn those off.

Connect an external keyboard to see if it would work.

Uninstall your keyboard driver in Device Manager and restart.

Update your keyboard drivers using Device Manager

    Try On-Screen Keyboard.

    Run keyboard troubleshooter by:

Pressing and hold the Windows key, and then press the I key.

    Selecting Update and Security.

Selecting Troubleshoot from the left panel.

Look for Keyboard in the Find and fix other problems section, and run the Troubleshooter.

Test your keyboard in safe mode by doing SHIFT+RESTART, Troubleshoot, Advanced options, Startup Settings, Restarting, and pressing either F4 or F5

Create a new user profile as corrupted user profiles could cause issues and test your keys in the new user profile.

Let me know how everything's going after testing my methods by posting a reply back.
