My ethernet cable stopped working the other day i thought since that cable is old it finally died. got a new one and it isn't working as well i go to device manager and see the My Realtek PCIe GbE family controller has the yellow caution symbol on it. Bringing it up it says Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43). I then go to check for updates but there is none in windows. then i uninstall and restarted, didn't fix it. lastly i disable and reenabled it but still nothing. (i went to see if i can rollback as well but i could not pick that option). I wanted to see if there were any new driver updates online for it but i don't know which one would be a correct option. my drivers currently 2021-02-01 with driver version 1 0.0. 14

If you are unable to connect to the ethernet, please first check if your internet is working. If you have Wi-Fi, verify that it's functioning properly. Otherwise, you can connect your desktop to the internet using USB tethering from your mobile device. Follow these steps:

    For Android Devices:

    1. Enable USB Tethering on Your Phone:

o Connect your Android phone to your desktop using a USB cable.

o Go to Settings on your Android device.

o Navigate to Network & internet or Connections (this may vary by device).

    o Select Hotspot & tethering.

    o Toggle on USB tethering.

    1. Configure Desktop Network Settings:

o On your desktop, right-click the network icon in the system tray (bottom-right corner).

o Select Open Network & Internet settings.

o Click on Status in the left sidebar and then choose Network and Sharing Center.

o You should see your mobile device listed as a new network connection.

    1. Connect to the Network:

o If prompted, select the new network connection and click Connect.

    1. Test the Connection:

o Open a web browser to ensure you have internet access.

    For iPhone:

    1. Enable USB Tethering on Your iPhone:

o Connect your iPhone to your desktop using a USB cable.

o Go to Settings on your iPhone.

    o Tap Personal Hotspot.

o Toggle on Allow Others to Join and ensure that USB Only is selected.

    1. Configure Desktop Network Settings:

o On your desktop, right-click the network icon in the system tray (bottom-right corner).

o Select Open Network & Internet settings.

o Click on Status in the left sidebar and then choose Network and Sharing Center.

o You should see your iPhone listed as a new network connection.

    1. Connect to the Network:

o If prompted, select the new network connection and click Connect.

    1. Test the Connection:

o Open a web browser to ensure you have internet access.

Once you have a working connection, you may need to troubleshoot and update the ethernet driver. I have already shared the necessary steps; it may not have updated correctly due to the internet not running on your system.

Please let me know if any of these steps help or if you need further assistance!

    Best regards,

    Arvind

thank you so much for the fast reply! i did the step to download the latest driver and the device says its working properly now! BUT my ethernet cable isn't being recognized right away i have two cables i tried, i should mention when i started up my pc i got a prompt that said a usb device failed or wasn't recognized and now in the device manager under universal serial bus controller there's a unknown USB device with a caution symbol on it. (it could be completely unrelated) but is there a different steps i should do to try for trying to get it connected
