If you’re on a wired connection, first check that the Ethernet cable is firmly connected to both your PC and router. If the cable is an older type, upgrading to Cat 5e or Cat 6 might help. Also, try a different port on the router if possible.

Next, update the network adapter settings:

    1. Open Device Manager, find Network Adapters, right-click your adapter, and select Properties.
    2. In the Advanced tab, set Speed & Duplex to 1.0 Gbps Full Duplex if it’s not already there.

Lastly, check for any background apps using data. Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Data Usage, and pause or close anything using a lot of bandwidth during the download.

Hello, I am Mite, an independent advisor and a user like you, and I am here to offer help.

If you download something with the browser, will the speed be this slow? If yes, then there might be something wrong with your computer. If not, maybe the problem is with Steam. You can try switching download server in Steam setting and see whether the speed becomes faster.

Hey! That’s annoying when your PC’s download speed lags behind. Here are a few things that might help:

First, make sure your network drivers are updated. Just go to Device Manager, find Network adapters, right-click your adapter, and hit Update driver. Sometimes outdated drivers don’t use your full connection speed.

Also, check Steam’s settings. They might have a speed limit on downloads by accident. Open Steam, go to Settings, then Downloads, and set Limit bandwidth to No limit. You can also try switching your download region in case there’s a traffic issue.

And if you've got any background apps using the internet (like Windows updates, cloud syncing, or even browsers), pause or close those while downloading.

Finally, it’s a good idea to test your speed at Speedtest. If it’s way below what you’re paying for, it might be worth reaching out to your ISP to see if there’s an issue.

Let me know if any of these help!
