"Requested value cannot be determined" error

I'm trying to transfrer music from my phone to both my pc's - one windows 10, the other 11. Both pc's are giving me this error. I've tried moving everything at once or one file at a time, same problem. How do I fix this? I've tried googling it and all it said was to change the file/folder permission, which I did (I've never had to do this before) and now all its doing is copying an empty folder mysteriously, nothing else. As in, a 0kb folder will appear with the exact name of the folder I'm trying to copy but nothing's in it. Any help is appreciated, thank you.

    Hello, EH42k

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

Thank you very much for your feedback. I have carefully read the information and problem description you provided. You mentioned that an error occurs when you transfer files between your phone and computer, and the error code is "Unable to determine the requested value".

I understand that this problem is causing you trouble. This problem is usually related to file permissions or other problems during the file transfer process. Please don't worry, I suggest you try the following methods to troubleshoot the error, which may help you.

Method 1. Check whether the target PC storage has enough free space.

Clean up or delete some unnecessary files to free up enough storage space.

Method 2. Make sure the target folder path is not too long, because Windows has a certain limit on the file path length.

Method 3. Please try to use another USB data cable or another USB port to rule out hardware problems.

Method 4. Restart the phone and computer to rule out simple errors.

Method 5. Grant full access rights

Right-click the target folder and select "Properties".

Go to the "Security" tab and click "Edit".

Make sure your user account has "Full Control" permissions. If the permissions are insufficient, add the appropriate permissions and click Apply.

Right-click the file or folder you want to transfer and select Properties.

Make sure the Read-only checkbox is not checked.

Method 6. When you connect your phone, Windows will ask you to select a USB configuration. To keep file transfers going smoothly, you should select MTP (Media Transfer Protocol). Depending on the device, this option may be called File Transfer.

If you set the transfer protocol to MTP or file transfers persist, try using PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol).

    Best regards
