I have been experiencing a persistent problem with the "Enhance Pointer Precision" setting on my computer, which automatically enables itself each time I boot up, despite my attempts to disable it.
Steps Taken So Far:
- Checked Mouse Drivers:
- Confirmed that I do not have "Corsair iCUE" software installed, which could control mouse settings.
- Disabled "Enhance Pointer Precision":
- Accessed "Control Panel" and selected "Mouse".
- In the "Pointer Options" tab, disabled "Enhance Pointer Precision" and clicked Apply and OK.
- Made Changes in Registry Editor:
- Opened "Registry Editor" and navigated to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse. - Verified that the values for "MouseSpeed", "MouseThreshold1", and "MouseThreshold2" are all set to 0.
- Opened "Registry Editor" and navigated to
- Uninstalled SteelSeries and Logitech Software:
- Removed the software for "SteelSeries" and "Logitech" to check for any conflicts that might cause the setting to enable itself.
- Checked for Software Conflicts:
- Examined my system for other applications related to gaming or peripheral settings that could interfere with the mouse settings.
- Disabled Functionality in Accounts:
- Turned off "Remember my apps" and "Remember my preferences" in "Accounts > Windows Backup", but this did not resolve the issue.
- Executed System Commands:
- Ran
sfc /scannowin "Command Prompt" to check and repair system files. - Also executed
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealthfor system repairs, but this did not help either.
- Ran
- Configured System Restore:
- Deleted the option to save previous changes in "System Restore", but again, this did not solve the problem.
Resolution:
After thorough investigation, I identified that the "X-Mouse Button Control" software was the cause of the issue. I accessed the settings in "X-Mouse Button Control" and disabled the "Enhance Pointer Precision" option, which resolved the problem.
Conclusion:
The issue with "Enhance Pointer Precision" automatically enabling itself at boot was linked to the "X-Mouse Button Control" application. Disabling this option in that software fixed the issue completely!!!
