Unable to open Gigabyte Control Center after Windows update KB5034843 (OS Build 19045.4123)

Anonymous

OS Name Microsoft Windows 10 Home

Version 10.0.19045 Build 19045

System Name AORUS

System Manufacturer GIGABYTE

System Model AORUS 15P KD
Processor 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-11800H @ 2.30GHz, 2304 Mhz, 8 Core(s), 16 Logical Processor(s)

Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 16.0 GB

I am running Windows 10, and have installed Gigabyte Control Center (22.12.20.01) since performing a clean install.
This has worked until recently, where it simply failed to open after performing the latest Windows update.

I then reinstalled the device, where I tried both Windows 10 and Windows 11 and at some point it will fail after getting the very latest Windows updates installed.

Now I have been running this W10 since a couple weeks without any issue (so Gigabyte Control Center opening and doing it's thing).
UNTIL TODAY!

I once again performed the latest Windows update and again Gigabyte Control Center is no longer opening.
Update which has been installed is February 29, 2024—KB5034843 (OS Build 19045.4123) Preview / February 29, 2024—KB5034843 (OS Build 19045.4123) Preview - Microsoft Support

I have tried to uninstall the update AND the Gigabyte software, but I am unable to simply get it to work again.
Only thing I have been able to do is to perform another clean install.

Googling/Binging/Redditting and so doesn't give me any answers, but I am sure I'm not the only one!
Gigabyte Control Center is sketchy (to say the least) but the basics just work and that is what I need.

So please refrain from posting anything that just says to uninstall it. Gigabyte Control Center is doing a good job with management of the battery if you let it do its thing.

Any guidance, troubleshooting, tips or the effective solution would be highly appreciated!

It's true it's caused by Citrix Workspace, but I finally found solution today to have Citrix Workspace and Control Center running together without any Windows reinstallation (suggested by Gigabyte support) nor BIOS reset:

    1. uninstall Citrix Workspace and bounce your Windows
    2. check if Control Center is launching, if not reinstall Control Center
    3. install back the Citrix Workspace, but right after installation go to Services in your Windows, find the service called "Citrix Workspace Advanced Service" stop it and disable in its properties.
Make sure you won't restart your OS before that, cause once restarted this service is installing/updating "Citrix enterprise browser" which seemed to be the root cause of the issue, at least my issue

It may happen, that you will finally have to update your Citrix Workspace but then the same procedure should work.

Please update this thread if you find any other tricks.

    Have fun ;)

Good to hear that it works :D
Few tests and it came with elimination method :)

    As for:

"Only downside is that the Citrix Workspace Advance service is the service that does:Keeps your Citrix Workspace app up to date and supports features that require administrative privileges. If you disable or stop this service, any feature that depends on it will fail."

    As I mentioned:

It may happen, that you will finally have to update your Citrix Workspace but then the same procedure should work.

So you may update/reinstall with latest version your Citrix workspace and repeat the procedure to disable the service again.

Kicking up the above question, where the answer from the Microsoft agent was not that helpful (no offense).

Turned out that it is coming from the latest Citrix Workspace version and the software requirements behind it.
I did not yet take the time to write it down, but if you install the latest Citrix Workspace app., it will at some point trigger a Windows Update on .NET (don't know exact which version).
This seems to break the Gigabyte Aorus Control Center software!

If I then uninstall Citrix Workspace, Gigabyte Aorus CC comes back to life! :-O

So if you are having the same issue and suddenly you recall also having Citrix Workspace installed, try removing that.
Or look around at some other software which is totally unrelated but might trigger some .NET updates.

    Hi,

I had similar issues, and was able to solve it by clearing the CMOS jumper. I found some articles online about it and it indeed did the trick.

    It resets your BIOS settings.

Give it a try. Don't forget to re apply any changed bios settings after you did it (for example XMP profile for your RAM).

The bios firmware itself will not be reset, so you'll still have the latest version.

    Hope it helps.

    Cheers from NL

Hello, Klaas Govaerts (DHL IT Services)

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

I understand that you are experiencing issues with Gigabyte Control Center not opening. Due to the forward-looking nature of the Preview Experience program, the vendor may not have updated the software in a timely manner to a version that supports the current system, so you may want to try taking this issue back to the vendor's tech support and ask if there is a beta version of the software available.
